i mean McCline isn't a huge puncher and even when he hit a tired McCline he never got him into trouble... :dunno:

But that fight makes Wlads punch look bad, too lol.

This proves how lucky Wladimira is to rule in such a pathetic division. He's no great fighter to go the distance with Peter!

Lummox Lewis woulda wasted Peter within 5 rounds.

Peter was probably undertrained and overconfident against McCline. They weren't even planning to fight this giant 6'6, 270lb guy till like last week. Peter made no real preparation to fight him, he figured it'd be easy. Just like Lewis did against Rahman and then got KTFO with 1 punch.
    It happens in boxing.:dunno:

You are right in a way X. But let me suggest this. Kessler couldnt hur Andrade while Mack put him down. I think the reason is he, much like Wlad only thorws straights that can't do much damage to that thick neck. But if u throw hooks that land flush on the side of then chin you can hurt them.

A parralele in those two constellations, imo. If Wlad would have thrown more left hooks like in round 12, he would have KOed him imo, but he was more concerned with not getting KTFO a third time and he wasn't in a good psychological situation in this fight,

KNock off the insults and make your points without them.

As for this....any guy as big as McCline can't be called a soft/light puncher....and when are we going to learn that in the HWT division ANY fighter can be rocked or even dropped?

Peter is vulnerable and isn't the savior of the HWTs....didn't we already know that?

I thought he'd struggle with a bigger fighter who has quick hands and good skills (and will tie up inside)....especially since Samuel wasn't preparing for him to begin with.

Peter may not be what some have cracked him up to be -- but saying he has a "glass chin" in light of the TOTAL EVIDENCE (not just one fight) is silly.

    Peace.

oh cry me a river lol McCline wasn't known as a huge puncher, since he never had KOed any guy of note impressively and Peter wasn known as at least a monster puncher with a granite chin. Both of that wasn't ONE of the vulnerabilities we ALREADY knew, my smartass friend.

If there was one it was him being a winger with no skills but thats about it. That fight today shocked most observers so don't act like u knew it all along.

As for the insults... why don't u go and hunt down some trolls in here like i mentiones in the thread about stinger banned. A deserved insult here and there doesn't hurt much like in TAA but the fucking trolls like Rubio and dymidumbel with their smartass comment spam - i don't see anyone doing something about that. So please don't act like a moderator if you don't enforce shit on this site. And i'm not only talking about you so sorry if u got my tirade here but i had to get that off.

Hope u still like me... :slap:

Lewis probably would have decided it wasn't worth the effort of going for a knockout and simply content himself by winning every round on the cards.

You obviously didn't watch the fight. McCline simply didn't do anything against Lawrence. He has the punch output of a dehydrated koala, and the endurance of James Toney at a "Who can go longest without eating" contest.

Saying that he can't punch is stupid, and you're a moron for looking on Boxrec instead of watching the fights.

Who was that quality opponent that Peter has ever knocked out again?

    That's right, no one..

The guy has a 73% knockout rate against chiefly mediocre competition. It's been a great marketing campaign to label him the Nigerian Nightmare and boast about some of his highlight reel knockouts.

However, in truth, he is a good puncher and that's it.

Watching this for the first time on the West Coast feed, Peter seemed a bit uneasy in the ring before the opening bell.

The one thing about Klitschko - and many Europeans - is they throw most of their punches in straight lines...and he rarely uses the uppercut (and while he may try to improve it, it doesn't look natural).

I don't Klitschko would ever land a punch like that short right from McCline that dropped Peter in the second round.

As for Peter's chin, it's durable...but you have to remember he does very little to protect it and rarely ever moves it.

    No news there.

This fight sort of reminded of the "They are who we thought they were" speech from Dennis Green.

Hopefully this ends the talk that Peter had somehow become a much-improved "boxer" based off his performance in the Toney rematch.

He did use his jab a bit better though, but a very modest improvement in my opinion.

    1. Point is - at HWT, anything can happen. At any time.

    2. McCline has always had a decent/solid punch. Don't see where it has been thought otherwise. Don't confuse lack of workrate or defensive fighting with no punch....especially against a guy like Peter who he is able to catch CLEAN and on the front foot.

    3. I've never considered Peter "granite-chinned". Maybe others have. Not trying to be "smart" or a know-it-all. Just true.

    4. There's been plenty of talk about Peter maybe not being quite as heavy-handed as people think. Especially now that he's not "winging."

    5. I most certainly did NOT expect Peter to be knocked down three times (that first one was bizarre, btw). But I also didn't expect him to totally dominate and blow out McCLine in 2.

    6. "Other people do it so why can't I" is no rationale and no excuse, and I wouldn't expect YOU to resort to that. We are being pretty consistent with warnings in regards to insults. If you see some and we haven't gotten there, we're human - PM us or raise the issue. As for "smart ass comments" -- people need to understand the difference. A poster can irritate you with their STYLE or tone - but as long as it's boxing-related and there are no insults or name-calling, they are not violating rules. If we were going to warn and ban because of posters' styles - everyone would be gone.

I still like you....just don't do it again. :kick:

    Peace.

Yeeo, precisely, the age factor, plus his adolescent bones formed and grew with natural calcium mixed with decipitating steroids under the ol' Soviet amatuer system, he'll have lepracy at 45.

This will help Peter more than hurt him. He now knows that he can get up and win a fight.

    "However"

Wlad would knock him out clean if they fought again.
