Btw does anybody remember what fight was it that turned Merchante jr. into a pacifist? he used to be the ref who didn't stop fights no matter what but then something happened (a fight wheresomeone got injured I guess) and ever since he has been quick with stoppages, as he was here. After the third round Golota was in command and was giving McBride a pretty good beating in there but still he didn't look at all like the guy who fought Bowe, not even the guy who fought Byrd. His balance was awful, he was slow, his sharpness was gone and he got hit easily
Much better than I thought it would be, Mcbride has vastly improved under his new managment, gutsy peroformance from him too. Golota seemed to throw late after every bell..:nono:
It's a real shame that this fight actually qualifies as a HW war given the sad state of the division today...
What does the state of the division has to do with a fight being considered a war :dunno: :dunno: :dunno: Of course Golota is past his prime, but McBride looked adctually decent in this one. Awfull stoppage by Mercante as usual.
Golota in his recent form is slow enough so McBride can hang in there for a while with him. Mike Mollo was quick-fisted and nothing else and McBride was completely helpless against him. If he is allowed to fight at his own, plodding pace, he is almost useful
