Newark, NJ - Oct 05, 2007 ANDRE "Tombstone" PURLETTE addresses the cruiserweight division: The former N.A.B.F. Cruiserweight champion is frustrated and angry about the (some guys get a shot and some guys don't) politics that has always been and most likely will always be an intricate part of the boxing business/sport. For years the hard punching Guyanaese, Purlette, has toiled around the sport never seeming to align himself with the right people that would lead him to the "FINISH LINE", the "WORLD TITLE". "I spent time in two training camps (DON KING'S ORWELL OHIO LOCK DOWN) with JEAN MARC MORMICK and the man would not get in the ring with me http://www.fightbeat.com/news_details.php?NW=20493
Fuck that china-chinned bum. And anyway, Wilson beat his ass. And on less than 24 hours notice, no less. Purlette was supposed to fight fat ass Ernest Mateen, who was something like 30 lb. over the limit  ... Wilson stepped in, weighed in the same day of the fight, put Purlette on his ass (I think in the 3rd), only to get jerked on the cards in the end.
Jesus, times must be hard for publicist's these days to revert to the bottom of the trash can, Tyrone Brunson, Andre Pureshitte and Raul Marquez are dominating the net with their bullshit, congrats! ::
One thing I'm surprised Pureshit (or whoever wrote that press release) didn't mention was the fact that he actually had a scheduled fight with Wlad late in '03, only for Wlad to pass in favor of some other scrub heavyweight. I forget who, but remember that they didn't want to take a chance with an unknown puncher (even one who spent most of the night staring up at Jeremy Williams' ankles earlier in the year), as Wlad was still reeling from the Corrie Sanders debacle.
Great fight. As for Purlette...he may not be much, but he can punch. Hasn't done anything to legitimize his demand though. And likely never will. Peace.
I've always liked Purlette. He has a knack of finding unconventional ways to stop an opponent. His KO of Jimmy Thunder was world class.
have you ever heard or seen a show called ESPN's Friday Night Fights during the late 90s or early 2000s?
