Roberto Duran made Latin-American fighters acting like jerks cool.

 

I think what makes it bad is that Duran was marketed as this straight from the slums of Panama badass who was el diablo. Barrera markets himself as a middleclass good natured kid who happened to be good at boxing. In the ring, they were both classless scoundrels who thought fouling was necessary.

Barrera didn't shoulder drive Hamed to the canvas. Hamed had his arm wrapped around Barrera's neck in a choke and tried to DDT Barrera as they both went down.::

 

Both MAB abd Erik Morales are two of the worst sportmen I have ever seen in the ring, along with Ray Leonard, Terry Norris, and George Foreman.
I seldom remember a fight of Ray's that he didn't hit after the bell, Norris always hit a guy on the floor, and Foreman always hit a guy low.

 

Better include Trinidad...his saved his low blows for when he got hurt and LOVED to push you off with the elbow (which I have not issue with) and LOVED to push his forearm under your chin (which I have a problem with).

 

i agree w/ all but Morales. it's morales who usually does the complaining about his opponents hitting behind the head and below the belt.

however, he is a terrible sportsman when it comes to losing if that's what you meant.

after david diaz congratulated him on his effort and his retirement, morales and his dad gave him zero credit and wrote him off as a dirty fighter. but then again, he gave kudos pacquiao in all three of their fights.

 

If he's a real standup guy, he'll pretend to be a fighter next time.

 

agREED on most, though to be honest, I couldn't care less about his not touching gloves with any fighters during a round. To me, it's the most meaningless gesture in the sport. You touch gloves prior to the start of the fight. More often than not, fighters congratulate each other one way or another at the end of the fight. That's more than enough time to show your sportsmanship.

You have 3 minutes per round to fight. So just fight. Fuck all that dap shit.

I agree with Reed about what goes on in the ring. But Barrera has no class, he never has. The shit at press conferences, the crap with the police officer, and not to mention all the racist shit he spewed about Morales. The guy thinks he's better and higher, he is pretty much the same as some White Elitist that lives in Beverly Hills. All of the hispanics who work their ass off out in the fields, doing construction, or any other "lower class" job, Barrera looks at them as pieces of shit. He's a horrible human being.

 

a lot of folks in this country share that same mentality. discrimination is fairly common. without it, there wouldnt be any ambition to better ourselves.

I think we all like a little drama in the build up to the fight, just makes it a bit more interesting. What Barrera did with Morales was just dispicable. Could you imagine what the world would think of MAB if he called Hamed a "camel jockey" or Junior Jones the "N" word? I think the rest of the world would see him for his true colors, but the fact is, the Native American doesn't have much of a voice, especially in Mexico.

 

what I always found funny is how some people critized Morales for not acting mature nad made Barrera out to be the bigger man. When they both equally act llike clowns.

Morales always claimed Barrera was a two faced punk on and off camera. For some reason I thought the same since Barrera hooked up with Oscar. Becoming more politically correct. But when things don't go his way BARrera shows his true colors.

I don't have a problem with anybody being an asshole. Just don't pretend to be something your not.
