No shit. While we're at surprising, honest and unbiased predictions I'm hearing double L picks JL Castillo over Whitaker at 135.:eeeek:
Yeah but that's just LUDICROUS. Stylewise Whitaker would embarrass Castillo. However with Floyd vs Duran...Floyd is simply a more talented fighter. opcorn:
Your gonna look like a HUGE fool picking Floyd over Duran all these years if Hatton somehow upsets Floyd. But as it is, either way, Duran mauls Floyd and wins a UD.
Not really. He is black, and we all know that you're a racist who sucks at picking fights. Look at how much trouble Mayweather had against Castillo. And against Duran? What the fuck are you thinking? Anyway, this is a stupid topic because neither man fought that much at 140.
He looks like a huge fool, anyway, but Fatton isn't going to beat Mayweather unless it's a bad decision, or Mayweather gets some freak injury.
Well, one thing to consider is how the battle of the wills would go. Attitude alone decided Duran's first two fights with Leonard.
Some guys have a style to trouble you and also, Floyd was injured that night. I could counter that by saying: Look at how much trouble Duran had against Laing? And against Mayweather? What the fuck are you thinking? opcorn:
He wasn't injured in the rematch, and he still had plenty of trouble. :dunno: Neeeeigh! I thought this fight was at 140, not 154. If we're talking about a 140-pound Duran, we should be thinking of the Duran of the DeJesus rubber match in 1978 or his fights in the jr. welterweight division, against Colombian Jr. Welterweight Champion, Emiliano Villa; future WBC World Jr. Welterweight champion Saol Mamby; French Lightweight Champion, Leonard Tavarez, not the Duran who hadn't fought at 140 or below in four or five years. Although Duran did win titles at 154 and 160, he simply wasn't an all-time-great fighter above 147. He didn't carry the extra weight well; he was slower; his defense was more open; and while he still could knock people down and out, he didn't have the frightening power he had at 135 and 140. Further, Laing's style was nothing like Floyd's. He was much more unorthodox, focusing more on combinations than potshotting on the outside, relying on head movement for defense and keeping his hands at his side. Basically, he was an Ali wannabe', minus the dedication and heart. Laing was talented enough to be World Welterweight Champion in almost any era, but alcohol, drugs and fighting in an incredibly talented division derailed a potentially Hall-of-Fame career. Admit it. You hate Duran because when he was 14, he knocked out a horse when someone dared him to punch it.
Considering that Floyd is still undefeated and has shown a sturdy chin as well as his other obvious natural talents...it's not "stupid" to pick floyd over anyone. It's just down to opinion.
Styles make fight. Mayweather had HUGE problems with a guy who was a half-assed version of Julio Cesar Chavez, who was a half-assed version of Roberto Duran.
Being a supposed historian, you know that A+B does not necessarily equal C in boxing. I could have called Joe Frazier a "half assed" version of George Foreman and then said that therefore the "styles" means that Foreman beats Ali. Well, that IS what alot of people said pre-Zaire.
Joe Frazier fights nothing like Foreman. That is stupid. Castillo fights a lot like Duran, only much shittier. We judge matchups based on styles, and Duran's style is a nightmare for Floyd Mayweather no matter how much of a hardon you have for the guy.
Duran not only knocks out Mayweather before 10, he also knocks out another horse that frequents this forum.
