Undefeated middleweight would like to serve as Taylor opponent for ex-champ’s rumored interim bout prior to Pavlik rematch

Totowa, NJ (October 15, 2007) – Undefeated WBC #2 middleweight contender Giovanni Lorenzo has informed his promoter Main Events that he would like to challenge recently installed WBC #1 challenger Jermain Taylor, it was announced by Main Events CEO Kathy Duva. In its latest rankings the WBC dropped Lorenzo to #2 and installed Taylor in the #1 spot.

lorenzo is good, but damn when is he ever gonna step up his competition?

 

Agree, I like him, but really, there isn't a chance in hell they will stick Taylor in with him...Lorenzo might be finding it hard to get fights, I would imagine so, but his resume is paper thin so far...

 

i heard lorenzo has a unique training routine and that he never spars when training for a fight.

 

I heard Lorenzo was in the running for the Dec.8th voluntary defense of Arthur Abraham along with Zuniga, and Lockett. That would be Abraham´s 7th fight in 24 months, despite the horribly broken jaw. Makes you really wonder about some fighters/promoters.

He spars, but rarely. When he does, he'll go 30+ rounds.

EDIT: His trainer also has to shut down the gym when he trains. So Lorenzo trains either very late or very early. He doesn't like being seen by anyone. He was very insecure.

 

He walked into Morris Park Gym once and said "it's too cold, lets get out of here" ahahahahahaha
