Sugar Ray Robinson lost in his prime to an ordinary Turpin. In his 30s, he lost to a lot of ordinary fighters. Does Ralph "Tiger" Jones ring a bell? He probably wasn't even as good, pound-for-pound as Johnson and Tarver. And Ray Robinson was 33!

But he was probably on steroids, so that fight doesn't count.

Roid was on roids for most of his career (you can't have a physique like that without them). Then again, most fighters 8and other top athletes) are on roids anyway so who cares.

Then what business do you have talking about what a "great" boxer is?

Johnson took a stupid risk and took roids way too long in his trainng. Athletes don't take roids for competitions, they oid during their training when they are not tested (especially not in America). Anyone who gets caught is just foolish.

Exactly. Steroids are mostly used to recover from training.

I do have an idea what a great boxer is. Sure Robinson is one of them but there are also other greats :nono: Just because im not super familiar with all of them doesn't mean i don't know who's great and who's not.

If you have an idea what a great boxer is, why are you disqualifying Jones from greatness while ignoring that your criterion would also disqualify Sugar Ray Robinson?:dunno:

This is the type of hater shit that kills me. People claim that Roy isn't great because he lost twice at the tale end of his career at the age of 37. But yet other fighters umm let's say Duran who lost not only in his prime but also lost at the tale end of his career but ist still held to very high standard. As a matter of fact most of the people that rank Duran as one of the top 3 greatest p4p don't even count his defeats but only count his lightweight regin and everything else he accomplished after that was just adding to his greatness even though he lost to the big 3. I find this shit to be very weak. Roy is a great boxer who lost at the end of his career. Shit like that happens when u try and hang on too long. I'll Holla 5000

Roid was 35 not 37 when he got smoked by Tarver who himself was even OLDER than Roid at the time of destroying him. Plus Roid's biggest win in his career (UD RUIZ) took place just one year prior therefore there is no evidance that Roid was no longer in his prime at the time of being destroyed by the OLDER than himself Tarver.

Sugar Ray Robinson was 31 when he lost to Randy Turpin, and 33 when he lost to Ralph "Tiger" Jones.

How can Roberto Duran be considered great if he lost to Kirkland Laing?

How can Alexis Arguello be considered great if he lost to Vilomar Fernandez?

How can Tommy Hearns be considered great when he lost to Iran Barkley, twice?

How can Floyd be ranked #1 p4p if he hasn't beaten a guy ranked in the p4p rankings since 2001?

    1) p4p is for teenyboppers
    2) even the most stupid of teenyboppers don't have Floyd ranked #1 p4p (at least I hope they don't)
    3) why is it so difficult to name a single elite fighter defeated by Zoo?

Again, steroids are recovery drugs, and there are several steroids that don't cause weight gain, like Winstrol, which Fernando Vargas tested positive for after his fight with Oscar de la Hoya. Properly used, certain steroids and even HGH can help you lose weight. That's why you'll occassionally see jockeys take them.
