A very interesting heavyweight bout approaching fast. Povetkin has a solid record for a guy with just 13 pro fights and he has looked very good in them. In his biggest fight so far he dominated Larry Donald who took him the distance but got beat up in progress (only Vitali has dominated him like that) We don't know how much Byrd has left now. The craft is there, but what about his reflexes? Does he really want it anymore after the whipping he got from Wlad or is he cashing out? My pick: Povettkin by decision, 116-112. he will be a cahmp (or at least a beltholder) in the future but he will have trouble here
Povetkin 118-108. Byrd lasts the full twelve but gets dropped twice, battered throughout - and then gives God the glory before claiming "you didn't see the real Chris Byrd tonight" and that he'll be back better than ever.
   You forgot about the stuff on the gloves. Maybe Lederman can weigh in with something like "Jim, I gotta talk about holding"
Wow, this fight is going to shit all over Vitaly's record! Just think about it, Povetkin is gonna dominate the guy who made Vitaly his bitch!
Gotta' go with Povetkin by UD. If a fat and very old Larry Donald is clever enough to stay away from Povetkin for 10 rounds, Byrd is. Really, the only way Byrd can win this one is by winning at least nine or ten rounds, which isn't going to happen.
No, I'm just saying that in Germany, a close fight will favor the local boy. Even if Byrd wins seven rounds (which I don't really think he will), he probably won't get the decision.
Povetkin is the FUTURE of the Heavyweight Division......:crafty: <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/_7Yzy_cajNc&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/_7Yzy_cajNc&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object> <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/V1RTNpBBUvE&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/V1RTNpBBUvE&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object> <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/XHnQs9VXuqs&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/XHnQs9VXuqs&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object> <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/HAYg0sD3nh0&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/HAYg0sD3nh0&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object> <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/hYM5EoGLZLE&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/hYM5EoGLZLE&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object> <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Vdd5yWLYL1U&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Vdd5yWLYL1U&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
He reminds me a lot of Tommy Morrison, only with not as good an offense and a better defense. The sad thing is that growing up, it seems like I used to always see good prospects like him come along.
Povetkin is gonna win , just add Povetkin to the long list of white men that kicked Byrd's ass (that includes Byrd's wife) ::
Povetkin will win but I don't think he'll stop byrd. the most impressive performance by anybody against byrd was Ibeabuchis liquidation of his opponent with solid punches to the chin.
That's an ignorant attitude. Do you only care about or start following a fighter when they become world champion? Are you not allowed to be interested in a fighter early in his career? Povetkin is very good, and exciting, which makes a nice change for a heavyweight. He is worth watching.
Yeah i crack up anytime i read shit like that... those guys probably only watch de la Hoya and talk shit on forums the rest of the year... ::
Dude, I've watched boxing for over 35 years and Chris Byrd is one of the most sleep-inducing fighters I've ever seen. I'd literally rather watch lizards fucking than Chris Byrd fight. Povetkin is a decent prospect, but I've already watched him beat worthless opposition. No need to subject myself to another Byrd borefest just because he's fighting a somewhat promising prospect. So that's my rationale and you can call it ignorant, but it's 10 rounds of boxing that I won't regret not watching.
