Is it fair to say that Roberto Duran has this accolade?
Pretty much every matchup he's involved in (and I mean matchups at weights between 130-154), he wins?

Dude...what happened to you? You used to be pretty fair minded. What's up with the recent passionate Duran hate??

    Ok.

It is just that I find him overrated and I can't understand how he gets a free pass for everything he does, that's all. Just as this thread states: Duran seems to be p4p the #1 in MMs and I do not see that.

First, I don't like to watch his fights. Maybe my taste is different from most but to me just rushing in isn't entertainig. In most of Duran's fights he gets in there and the fight urn into ugly affairs with plenty of holding and fouling. I am not saying that he wasn't tough to beat but I don't like watching that.

Second, his career is overrated. He was truly great at lightweight, but apart from a very close win over Leonard (who followed a poor strategy) he did very little legendary stuff after that.

And foremost, he is perhaps the worst foul artist I have seen. Sure most great champions used some fouls (Ali, Lewis, Leonard etc all had their dirty tricks.). Duran did it all. He came in head first, when he missed, he followed up with elbows, he punched low on purpose, the thumbed, he held and hit, everything. And stil, I never here critique towards him even though he clearly broke the rules. It is always like "Duran was merciless, he was an animal, boxing is not for softies" etc. If that's the case, then why not brong a knife in the ring and commit minor fouls with that?

And about the Hatton thing (Donny asked it once): I am not even a huge fan of Hatton's but yes I find it unfair how he gets crticized for holding when he outlands his opponents in every round. I guess he should also do all other fouls and he would be seen as a great fighter too.

Nope - you misunderstand: I meant that everyone here has him winning these Mythical Matchups as far as I can see.

I have to agree. Duran, Robinson, Monzon are unbeatable according to most MM topics. People always say Duran was a monster and unbeatable at 135 yet he lost to De Jesus. Obviously he isn't unbeatable. I've never seen a fighter so hyped. Actually thats not true, Robinson and Monzon are right up there.

"Unbeatable" is a bunch of crap, IMO.

Even the guys who never lost in their prime could've easily lost under different situations/judges/eras, etc...

Sanchez definately gets the "died young" extra credit from a lot of folks.

I agree, this was something I brought up a while ago as well.

Still though, alot of people had him losing to Dick Tiger which was a big surprise to me.
