Call me crazy, but I think Rocky Juarez will beat Juan Manuel Marquez this weekend. Marquez isn't shot by any means, but he's been progressively slipping in the past 2 years or so and getting hit more than ever. He's also coming off a nasty hand infection. Rocky Juarez is as dependable as Dominick Guinn or Mike Arnaoutis. :: So no way in hell, I'd put actual money on this. But my gut feeling is, Rocky will show up in top form. Juan having slipped a bit, with his hand not being fully healed will receive the shock of his career. Rocky Juarez KO Juan Manuel Marquez via left hook.
sure Marquez is older buy he hasn't slipped. Not to the point where Juarez beats him. when Marquez fought more cautious people bitched that he was boring. Now that he opens up more he has been more exciting. of course he is gonna get hit more when he opens up. But against the two Philipinos last year he stopped them both. He just beat Barrera last March. Normally when a fighter slips he starts losing fights. :dunno: Rocky Juarez could give him a big fight but that depends on which Rocky shows up. But it won't matter cause JMM is still a hungry fighter that will show up and is simply better.
Juarez is going to win. Whether it's by KO or not, I dunno, but he's going to pull the minor upset (yes, IMO, minor upset). opcorn:
Juarez is Tooooooooooo 1-Dimensional to Beat Marquez...As Much as REED would LIKE to See it Happen, it Won't... REED:nono:
Can't see an upset at all. In fact if any of these guys have slipped it's Juarez. I've noticed he has a new tendency of being a bit unwilling to let his hands go lately ala Dominic Guinn. Not a chance JMM loses to Rocky. By the way, I don't understand why people are hoping Rocky wins. Not only would it probably ruin any chance of seeing JMM fight Pacman, but it would also likely prevent any other good JMM matchups. You guys weren't hoping to see Rocky fighting the likes of Chris John and/or Pacquiao were y'all?
Juarez aint the one to do it,he's fighting like he's thinking too much lately, sometimes you just have to let go and do it.
Lately? That's been his problem his whole career....he fights like he has the luxury of being a patient, selective puncher....when he doesn't. And he's got one gear. And I really like the guy...always have.
Let's just say he's gotten worse about it once the level of competition went up......but you know what I'm sayin:dunno:
Yes, have you seen JMM-Gainer, JMM-Licona, JMM-Norwood,... and even Pac-JMM, withouth the first round, is no more than an ok fight, Pac-Juarez would be a bomb away war.
have you seen Pacquiao's losses at flyweight? I mean if those early fights are irrelevant to your judging them now:dunno: Pacquiao/Marques I thought was the best fight that year. JMM was able to get up and outbox Pacquiao for most of the fight. he was able to do that because of the type of fighter he is. Juarez is too one dimensional and he is not a harder puncher than Pacquiao nor is he faster. He has no advantages over him. He will gets smoked as quickly as Pacquiao wants him out of there. have you seen soto/juarez? soto has 5 losses and put a beating on that dude. :dunno:
I just can't see that. Juarez don't let his hands go enough. Marquez does which is why some claim he is slipping. :: Against Pacquiao you have to do both to beat him. You have to know when to counter him and time him as well as throw blows with him. Juarez can only throw blows but he don't hit enough nor is he fast enough to be relevant. He is so incosistant that Juarez might be taken out quick if he is a "no show" come fight night.
I hear ya, BTG... But I think you put your finger on it....it's not that he's gotten worse necessarily; it's that as his level of competition increased he's continued to fight exactly the same way... And the exact same gear won't cut it against the elite. Peace.
Well....you can't lay JMM-Gainer at Marquez's door, honestly. And Licona? It was a methdodical beat-down, like most of JMM's fights are. It should not have been a war given the difference in talent - and it wasn't. But still, JMM wasn't running anywhere. I really can't understand your point - JMM-Pacquiao was a very good, exciting fight even after the first round. And Marquez wasn't running or backpedaling at all...he was circling, using his jab and leading AND countering with big power shots, right within Manny's range. What, exactly, are you looking for? I understand where you're trying to go with Pac-Juarez; but I'm not so sure. Rocky, bless his heart, has proven time and time again that he has ONE gear and is way too patient and selective with his shots. I think against the very fast, high-workrate Manny it would be more of the same. The one chance he has is that short left hook on the inside - catch Manny with it when Pacquiao is opening up and squared up and swarming him. But chances are he'll cover up and wait...and that would be his downfall. Peace.
