Howard Eastman will be out to turn John Duddy’s Kings Hall dream into a nightmare when they clash at the legendary Belfast venue on Saturday, December 8th on the next Hunky Dorys Fight Night – billed “The Only Show in Townâ€. Eastman looks set to provide the Derry middleweight with the sternest test yet of his 22 fight unbeaten career and his CV makes for impressive reading. http://www.fightbeat.com/news_details.php?NW=20667
eastman is decent enough to beat pretenders. he's also better than a shit version of yori boy that duddy barely beat. a dumb move on duddy's mgt's part. i would've tried to have him fight more stiff until cashing out vs. taylor or pavlik.
i bet the fight doesn't happen when all is said and done, and he ends up fighting just another nobody or had-been.
WAS. Eastman WAS decent enough to beat pretenders. Granted, any halfway decent opponent is a risk for Duddy, but Eastman was never terribly active (from bell to bell) during his prime. Even less so now, and he's now losing on the regional level. So long as his chin holds up, this is a good resume filler for Duddy. Not a notable, or even credible, win, but something that looks glossy at first glance.
Wayne Elcock beat Eastmna, enough said...Eastman is done, stick a fork in him, Duddy will outwork him rather easily...
but let's look back at duddy's fight vs. campas. campas even at his best was a quitter, yet he fought back valiantly and had duddy in serious trouble especially in the 12th. that doesnt say much about duddy at all. eastman is a real 160 pounder and even at this stage of his career, he's better than campas.
Duddy is semi bum, but should have enough about him to see off Eastman. Although the way he left his chin out against that child he beat last time out could jeaprodise that. Beating Eastman would give more credibility to a Pavlik matchup in which Duddy will get rich but beaten badly.
I thought Duddy was going to have his great homecoming fight, after conquering the world?.. what happenned to that?.. didn't the tickets sell out in Dublin?... ..the Irish arent as dumb as we perhaps thought.
Eastman will not get stopped but he is slower and more 'meticulous' with his punches than ever. For those who watched the Joppy and Hopkins fights you know its going to be a thrill an hour stuff from the Battersea Bomber. He still hits hard but telegraphs enough that if Duddy doesnt see it then his corner can warnhim and hed still have time to get out the way.
i hope he takes Duddy more serious than he did Elcock.....Eastman is well past his best, but if he turns up like he did against Richard Williams a couple of fights back he's got a very good chance of beating the Irish prospect
I think this fight is off. Duddy was down in my gym two weeks ago with Don Turner and he looked in outstanding shape. All Don did was walk around saying things like "Gimme A Break, Man" and "Where's The Other Guy", referring to Peter Taylor Sr, who, as it happens, was at the Europeans with his daughter.
