It goes both ways, same can be said about Calzaghe being the most complete fighter Kesslers ever faced. The difference is Joe's been in the game a long time and his experience will be the reason he wins this fight tonight.

Kessler easy - no closer than 8-4 - stoppage wouldn't surprise me either. Primary reason is Calzaghe being so damn open down the middle.

Kessler, easier than expected...UD or Tszyu style throwing in of the towel in the 11th

What makes you think that Salaco?

I respect your opinion, but only to an extent as you picked Freitas over Chico  :tease:

Ha, yeah that was a horrific pick although I might be tempted to pick freitas by SD at this point...RIP Chico....

Others have mentioned earlier, its Kessler's straighter punching, and he's also relatively long, Joe likes to get within a certain distance before unleashing the quick flurries, he will take some trying to get to that point and then find Kessler is able to give as good back even at closer quarters...Having seen Kessler against Mundine, I wouldnt be worried so much about handspeed, although calzaghe brings the extra power element..

On a less boxing related note, Calzaghe has been making plenty of comments about retiring in 2008 and having had a good career in the last few weeks which tells me he may be ready to fold, being satisfied that he doesnt have it left to prove

Lemme get my prediction in. I haven't seen much of Kessler and from what I have heard Calslappy has the faster, quicker hands, and feet. Gotta stay the course and go with the better athlete. I look for Calslappy to win a UD. I'll Holla 5000

I have only seen bits and bobs of kessler on youtube.

he seems to have all the basics and definitely can punch. he is a confident young man, has good footwork and a solid style. he seems like he can take a punch too.

calzaghe can hit so that will be important.

    its a very intriguing fight.

I WANT BADLY to see Calzaghe beaten. I want to see it. But I'm not sure it will happen. It's hard to pick against him.

If I was betting on the match, I'd take Calzaghe by UD. However, i HOPE I'm wrong. I HOPE Kessler gives Calzaghe a hiding and liquidizes him very slowly just like a spider liquidises his prey.

I just watched the Countdown special that was shown on Setana sports last night. That's the station that will be broadcasting the fight in England.

If you thought HBO was bad, chew on this for a second. The special was simply called "Countdown to Calzaghe".

Half the show was about Kessler.

I agree about Calzaghe's strength. he is a lot stronger than people think. Besides the lacy fight you have the bika fight to. Bika is nothing else if not strong but Calzaghe was just as strong. The closer this fight has gotten the more I think Calzaghe may win.

Card starts at 9pm, not sure if there is a fight before the main event (don't think so).

Been struggling with this one for months....

It's going to be a great fight - should be FOTY candidate.

I have to go with Kessler via narrow decision.

I think people are underestimating his speed and his punching repertoire...he can hook off the jab extremely well and even lead with it; and has a great clean-up left hook after the 1-2.

He can also punch at short-range and does so.

It's going to be close and it will take Kessler some time to find his rhythm...but his right hand will be key for him in this fight.

Calzaghe needs to focus on his right hook - that's the shot that Mikkel is most vulnerable to.

I think Mikkel will win by shorter, straighter punching and by surprising on the inside...he will fight a bit more in spurts than Calzaghe (who puts together those speedy flurries) but will land the cleaner harder shots.

    Very hotly contested fight.

    Kessler by close UD/MD.

    Peace.

    Kessler

As I stated several weeks back on the radio show, Kessler resembles Ezzard Charles a lot in terms of movement and punch placement and should be able to win a decision there tonight.
