P4p is stupid, but since he is the best of his division more clearly than any other fighter of any division, he would have to be #1

p4p is a little dumb i agree. ESPCIALLY p4p mythical matchups that's just completely wacky. if p4p means best fighters in the world regardless of weighclass then how can calzage be behind floyd? floyd is not a better fighter than joe? if they fought tomorrow joe would kill him

My rationale for that is that PBF hasn't proven even that he was the best fighter of his own size (147 lbs) so how can he be the best in the world? SUre he was a super-feather once, but so what? he is a welterweight now and physically a weak one

Whenever there's a p4p thread either here or in MM you can rely on UGTBK to repetitively chime in like a parrot:

    "P4P is stupid....."

as if we need to read it again...as if reading it again would convert the rest of us to his way of thinking.

If you feel that way....then stay out of the topics. Simple.

If you read closely, you may actually notice that I also answered the very damn question of this thread.

So, give me your rationale of how Floyd is p4p #1

I do feel he should be higher up than Pacman

Pacman lost to Morales not too long ago, plus he got schooled by Marquez...

Calzage NEVER lost a fight and dominated in his toughest fights

    In combination:

Floyd is the most skillful, talented and accomplished fighter in the game right now regardless of size.

    Simple. Any more questions?

Just as I thought: to you, p4p best means p4p the most skilled or technical. Thinking that way, sure Floyd is the best.

However, being the best fighter is more than that. Things like physical size, strength, reach etc are also important factors when the outcome of a fight is decided. Floyd, at his recent weight class, is not physically big and strong enough to dominate, or at least he hasn't proven it yet.

If that's the case...then forget P4P and just label the Heavyweights as the best... simple. That's what they did prior to Sugar Ray robinson and the lower weight classes received minimal attention as a result.

Nothing wrong with that...per se....but you can't have it both ways.

Floyd is the best...because his skill level is so much higher than his peers and he has proven that his skill can overcome extreme disadvanages in size/strngth,power and reach....by (and not excluded to this example) having come from 130lbs not too long ago to beat Oscar De La Hoya at 154lbs.

There can be no legitimate argument against Floyd for being the best P4P right now...

If he fought at super-featherweight now and then beat DLH at 154, you would have a point.

Again, if p4p only measures technique and skill, then PBF could be the best. But since being the best fighter requires more than that, IMHO the only guy that can be called the best p4p is the one who dominates his division the most. And at this point the guy is Calzaghe who has very few serious contenders to face. The best fighter p4p I have ever seen is Roy Jones (telling you this before your next racist remark).

    Pac/Joe then Floyd for me.

Joe did everything last night that the current p4p champ "talks" about doing.

Kessler could have KO Calzaghe last night but Joe has balls he mixed it up with Kessler and beat him convincingly.

BTW IMO Joe could have done a floyd last night stayed out of harms way and having an even easier win but he didnt he ENTERTAINED.

    Joe = Legend

ÃŒf u still doubt ur hater simple.

At this point in Joe would kill Jones I think B-Hop would be a great fight for Calzaghe.

Haha these Floyd haters are rediculous. Floyds been beating top comp for nearly 10 years. Calzaghes been doing it for 2 years.

I can't see a reason how you can have Fraud over Mosely p4p,..if an attrociously stinking, running, backtwisting split decision against this version of De La Hoya does the trick?..

But, but but but,..lil Floyd started all the way down at 130!!! whereas Shane...................

oooo.......... that's gotta hurt a bit if your a Fraud groupie....

    1) Pacquioa
    2) Mosely
    3) Calzaghe
    4) Marquez
    5) Dawson
    6) Diaz
    7) Kessler
    8) Pavlik
    9) Taylor
    10) Hatton

    262) Felix Sturm
    263(a) Fraud Mayweather
    263(b) Oscar De La Hoya
    264) Scrubdomir
    265) Judah

I think I might've fucked up where Shane started aswell :eeeek: , I was sure he began his pro-career at 130lb, but, it appears he started at 135,.. :crafty: oh well,.. 'lil De La Hoya' started at 130.

But anyway, tell me X, who has a better resume, Mosely or Fraud?..:dunno:

    Hmmm...

Floyd is undefeated, Shane is four times defeated.

    Floyd has titles at 130,135,140,147,154
    Shane has titles at 135,147,154

    Floyd's best wins were against:

De La Hoya, Judah, Castillo, Corrales, Baldomir

    Shane's best wins were against:

De La Hoya, Vargas, Jesse James Leija....

    hmmm......tough one.:dunno:

At 140 and below, Floyd does. At 147, Shane.

Yes, Fraud probably has a better resume than Shane at 140 I'll grant you, but apart from that?,..UD prime De La Hoya x 2,.. while we're all wowing Fraud's split decision against Oscar's snake-skin comparitively?,.. Naaaaah :crafty: come on X, own up, that's a bit hard to swallow if your a fan of undefeated records at Castillo's expense dont you think?

I have him second, being behind PBF but ahead of Manny Pac who, to be fair, looked not much better than pants against MAB last time out...(albeit he still won)

As said here previously, IMO Joe is the best there is between 160 - 175. For that alone, he is definite top three at worst.

    I would still have Kessler 10 - 11, btw

2nd or 3rd @ WORST...REED would have NO Problems w/Anybody Ranking Calzaghe AHEAD of Manny Pac...

But Calzaghe IS NOT Ahead of Floyd, Unless Hatton BEATS Floyd...

If Hatton beats Fraud, why wouldn't he become number one on your list?..:dunno:

and how is Fraud's resume, greater than Manny Pacquioa's, especially in recent times in order for Joe to overtake Manny, but still be inferior to Fraud?..

:nono: Reed please, there can only be one definitive conclusion for this, I mean Yes, Roy Jones RIGHTFULLY took the reigns of the pound for pound list in a bloodless Ku for several years, but uh, uh uh uh uh,..his groupies didn't inherit the dictatorship of that mythical right, once he fell from grace,..:nono: !!,...share the power Pervez

Interesting thing is Calzaghe and Pac are both southpaws, rarely take a step back, and three words to describe the both of them would be: PRESSURE, PRESSURE and more PRESSURE.

They fight at another level in terms of PACE. Oh their oponnents could hang in there for SOME time but ultimately they will be worn down and discouraged.

The only thing that separates them is POWER. Perhaps that's why Calzaghe throws more punches and is technically more sound than Pac.
