FORREST CALLS OUT MAYWEATHER, PAVLIK & MAYORGA

On a boxingtalk interview he had this stuff to say:

Says he's planning on putting on an outstanding performance for his next fight and will even press Picirrilo. He said if Floyd wants to try to beat another 154lber that he would shut Floyd's one punching style down. He says Floyd just throws one punch at a time. He also said he'd like to move up to 160 and fight Pavlik.

Here's what he said about Mayorga: "I was out at the Miranda fight last night and I ran into Mayorga and we definitely want to make that fight. If he gets by Vargas, which I doubt, but even if don't get by Vargas, I definitely want that fight."

Fighting Mayorga would be a waste of time IMO, especialy if he loses to Vargas. Anyway I'm kind of excited about seeing Forrest fight. Even though he beat Mosley he's alway impressed me with his skills, but his lack of consistent offense always kind of turned me off. If he's doing like most fighters do as they age and turning up the offense, then I'd really like to see him more often.

 

Yes. Notice he did not mention Calzaghe or Kessler.

Thus, it is proved, once and for all, that Kess and Cal KO Pavlik. If Forrest wants in on Pavlik, then you might as well write Pavlik off against either Joe or Kessler.

I always liked Forrest both inside and outside the ring but mayorga takes him nowhere really, almost as bad as the Piccirillo fight...Neither Floyd not Pavlik will fight him. he has a title that was pretty much given to him and has no box office appeal really. He should aim for one of the other titlists, likely Alcine or the winner of alcine-santos...if he gets by them he may make some coin fighting one of the well-supported young guys like Berto or Martirosyan

He said he is surprised nobody has been able to figure Floyd out. Yet he couldn't fucking figure Mayorga out. Even if you had him winning the second one it was barely. Let's not forget the gift against Quartey.

Start by actually beating Mayorga. That would be a first for Forrest in my opinion.

actually I think that whole "styles make fights" thing is overrated. Some people act like it's the case everytime.

I believe it's the case sometimes. Most of the times the better fighter prevails.

Floyd schools Forrest with ease. Maybe the Forrest of 5 years ago is a different story. not now.:nono:

That is often true, but the fact is your premise was shaky and Double made a very good point (with an example) in his response.

Styles DO make fights. Not always, no - but many times they do.

And even if Forrest "can't beat" Mayorga; I can clearly see how Forrest-PBF could be a very tough fight for Mayweather.

Exactly, and Double L's point worked perfectly because the fact that Forrest beat Mosley but lost to an unskilled slugger like Mayorga was all about styles.

And yes, Forrest would beat the crap out of a shot as hell Mayorga and it wouldn't mean diddily at this point in time.

Another thing, most are saying that Forrest lost to a lesser fighter in Mayorga because of styles. When really it was Forrest fighting scared when he couldn't win the brawl. Mayorga took his heart. It had nothing to do with styles.

Either way I think i'ts stupid for Forrest to say he would dominate Floyd and to wonder why anybody has figured him out. He makes Floyd seem so beatable. Coming from him who recently got a gift against Quartey is fucking stupid.

I'm not going to dispute Floyd is more skilled than Shane.

However I do think, it was a styles issue. How do you know Forrest was scared? That is an assumption. Forrest fights a slow thinking pace which is how he beat Mosley. Mayorga's pressure and ability to take Forrest's shots so easy wasn't a style Forrest could deal with.

Still I lean more to Forrest beating Shane as a styles thing then I do Mayorga beating Forrest. Forrest should have beaten Mayorga no matter what the styles were because Mayorga sucks so much. However that was Mayorga's beast fight and he just wasn't going to lose. He might have beaten Mosley that night with the way he was just walking through Forrest's shots.
