I will admit, it was not as good as ones in the past I think. We talked in the other thread about the lack of contributors or whatever, how come andrew brown didn't return to this telecast, he was good last time, and it seems like the people that are on now are...well bring Mr. Brown back for the next one I'd say
I've always like "Bundini Brown" on the show...bring him back. Also, it wouldn't hurt to mix up the lineup every now and then. Otherwise, you have a group of guys sitting around agreeing with each other every week (or whenever you decide to have the show).
Well I actually felt the flow of this show was better and required less editing. The guys were accurate in their comments. However, we continue to fall under our typical trap of having to be ready in about 20 minutes. Brown was out, but he'll be back in our next show. So, now that we are back in action we hope that our next show will continue to build on our experience doing the show as well as try a few other news things to improve. Cupey
U'd Lend MORE Credence to your Thoughts & Opinions if U Didn't HIDE Behind an ALIAS... Come OUT of the CLOSET & Speak your Mind, Dude...We're ALL Big Boys Here... REED
Enjoyed it mostly...all discussion of Juan Diaz should be avoided however, I'm finding it increasingly hard to find any relation between the exaggerated descriptions of the guy on this show and the guy I've seen on TV
Someone changed that, look at my original post. I didn't think they had a radio show, though pug said he was going to start one a couple of months back.
Maybe I'm biased because I know the guy, but I thought one of the better stories of the weekend was Robert Guerrero knocking out Martin Honorio. On paper, it doesn't sound like much. But when you consider that: - his wife, Casey, was diagnosed with leukemia last week - he stayed by her side up until the weigh-in, missing most of the promotion (media workouts, final pre-fight presser, etc.) - he was 1 1/2 lb. over the featherweight limit (before finally making weight 2 hours later) - was being TOLD by his time to pull out of the fight throughout the week and up until Saturday morning, that he wasn't in the right mental state - considered not taking the fight until his wife, after going through her first chemo session, gave him a kiss, thanking him for all of his support through this, and then asked "so, when are you leaving for Arizona? You have a fight to win this weekend." - he dedicated the fight beforehand to his wife, to all sick children and leukemia victims across the world. - comes out, and scores a 1-punch knockout less than a minute in, against a Top 10 featherweight ... it all makes for quite a story. Would've been nice to hear that discussed, or even his name mentioned at all.
he's not from Houston, therefore he doesn't count. Also, did anyone notice the round of boos Oscar got when they showed his face? :dunno:
I didn't know any of that concerning Guererro, but he is a nice kid that I met at the Pacquiao fight in San Antonio.
well then, that's a damn shame. Because it was reported (almost) everywhere before the fight, and for damn sure afterward. I haven't yet watched the Showtime telecast, since I was there, and didn't get a chance yesterday to sit down and watch. But I have to believe they mentioned it at some point during the telecast. And I know for a fact that Guerrero mentioned it during his post-fight interview.
I would have talked about Guerrero but I honestly haven't watched mutch of him and I missed his first round KO. Cupey
Yeah, they talked it up prior to and after the fight. After Marquez vs Pacquiao...I'd like to see him get the winner so he can get a few bones in his pocket. I'm sure medical expenses will hurt him.
It's funny you say this... My wife has always thought Oscar was gay. This dates back to his interview with Merchant after the Trinidad fight. Merchant asks him how he's feeling and he replies, "I'm hurt, emotionally." She always thought that response and the way it was delivered was gay, so when the pictures came out it all but wrapped it up for her. I made a point to show her the sissy wave Oscar gave and she walked away shaking her head. ::
Well, the fight was already over by the time Calzaghe-Kessler was finished, but I do recall now I read that he had trouble making the weight. As far as listening to the commentary on the replay or watching the interview with him, it was late and I just watched the KO is all.
Jake: You know better than most people here as I am basically concerned only with the action in the ring or in the gym, that other kind of stuff concerning his wife or other personal issues he had, I wouldn't have mentioned it even if I knew about it.
I watched the KO live. I watched all of Calzaghe-Kessler, missed the scores (because it was obvious Calzaghe had won) and when I turned to Showtime the fighters were in the ring and the ref was giving final instructions. It was timed perfectly.
