I think you've been saying that since this fight was announced yet I don't recall you ever picking Shane.

Could it be you're just preparing yourself for a soft cushioning once your boy Cotto gets exposed?

It's no secret that I'm picking Cotto, but nervously. Like I said before...it's a 51-49 type of fight. Anything can happen. However I'm picking Cotto and if he loses, I will not be terribly surprised...but I wouldn't pretend that Shane was really the person I thought had the better shot.

I believe Cotto is the slightly safer choice...

While I did bet on Kessler, I considered the 1st superfight of the fall a pickem. The second superfight is a pickem as well, but I slightly favour the old fart, because of the questionable chin of the young stud. So I´ll take Mormeck by TKO in eight rounds over Haye. Now onto the third superfight. Cotto will win. It won´t be easy early, but around the 6th/7th round it will turn into a beatdown. I don´t think Mosley will see the final bell. Mercy stoppage in the 10th/11th round.

Are his predictions really that off? The only ones I've noticed are when he has a lot of emotional investment one way or another (like Roy-JUGO or Floyd-Baldomir :: )

 

I like Cotto in this matchup.

Cotto seems more comfortable at 147 and I think making 140 caused some of his problems in the past. Cotto got stunned by Judah, but big deal. Lots of guys get stunned by the speed and power of Judah. I think Cotto's punch resistance is good enough.

Mosley fights extremely well for a 36 year old, but he's still a 36 year old. I don't think he has as much left as a lot of other people think. He's still good, tough, quick, etc...but I think Cotto's pressure and workrate, along with his solid skill set, will be the difference. At Mosley's age, he fights at a more measured pace. Mosley will try to control the pace and clinch Cotto to get rest, but Cotto's a strong guy and keeps coming. Cotto also has a very good workrate, and his bodyshots should affect anyone, especially a 36 year old. Mosley will have his moments, but I think Cotto will gradually do the damage and take over, winning a UD, although a late stoppage is not that hard to see either.

I thought Cotto at first due to his youth and workrate. But I think he's underestimating Shane BIG TIME, believe or not. And I think Mosley will hit Cotto harder than most have. It'll be a good fight but it doesn't last. Mosley's faster and stronger. And I think he's more intelligent. It would probably be better for boxing if Cotto won and I have to support my countryman, but my head tells me he's going down here.
