Especially if it's your (favorite) fighter thats fighting that night. Before a big (important)fight, I am hyped as all hell. The only thing that can calm me down is drinking, and sometimes not even that. I watch all kinds of sports, but none of them can get me the way that boxing does. Do y'all ever feel like your having an anxiety attack??
Apart from Hearns-Leonard 1, I haven't felt that kind of anxiety. I was an enormous Hearns fan, and he was finally going to step up and take on an already established great fighter. I think I may feel that same way for Mayweather-Hatton, I want Ricky to win so badly, even though idk what is going to happen.
yes. i have to say. i do get very keyed up in the hours and days leading up to a big fight. even if i'm not rooting for anyone in particular i still feel it. and although it's nervousness, it's not unpleasant. it's kind of a thrill actually. i think it's what it's all about - part of the buzz of watching boxing. what's amazing is also is that in direct proportion to the amount of anxiety we feel leading up to a fight, the fight goes by ever so quickly. the more i'm looking forward to a fight, the sooner it's over. for example, ODH/Hopkins seemed like it was over in 2 rounds. the fights just go by so fast.
I start tapping my foot on the floor when I'm impatient and waiting for the fight to start. I get hyped during the ringwalks, because you know it's about to start and the guys are preparing to enter the ring. I'm kind of a sucker for the big event, so big fights that aren't as great matchups as some others still tend to get me more excited. For instance, I was more hyped leading up to Hopkins-De La Hoya than Kessler-Calzaghe, even though from a pure boxing standpoint, Kessler-Calzaghe was a better matchup and tougher to predict.
REED had NO Vested Interest in the Calzaghe-Kessler Outcome, yet 1nce they Both Got in the Ring, REED was NERVOUS... When it's a Fight Involving 1 of REED's FAVES, he's REALLY Nervous... LITERALLY, REED was Laying on his Couch in the FETAL Position During the Build-Up & Ringwalk of Roy-Ruiz:: ...It Wasn't til AFTER the 1st Round (when REED Saw that Roy Could TAKE Ruiz's Shots)that REED Settled Down & Sat Upright... REED was Pretty NERVOUS During Roy-Tarver III as Well, but to a LESSER Degree... REED
i get the shits.....get all cold..even in the summer heat..i still get chills during the walk-in staredown..early part of the fight.....my stomach doesn't get right till round 3-4... i most be suffering from restless leg syndrome or something...::
I get the butterflies everytime. Lewis/Tyson Trinidad/Mayorga Calzaghe/Kessler Cotto/Judah Mayweather/De La Hoya Every big fight I say. Cotto/Mosley I'll be nervous for.
Usually when it's a big fight I make it a small get together and that helps things around here. It creates a better atmosphere. I like those huge ppv cards where they show you when the fighters arrive, the ref giving the rules at their locker rooms, all the way to them warming up before they walk in. All these while the undercard is going on. opcorn: once the first round is about to start I really feel nervous. Especially those tactical fights because there isn't that much action. Whent the first real exchange happens I know something crazy can happen and the reaction of the crowd makes it even more electric. It's fucking crazy.:cheer:
I get very excited and as someone already said, there is no sport like boxing in that sense. I never saw Lewis-Tyson live but reading rbrs of that fight was among the toughest things I have ever gone through, I was so nervous
I can imagine that fight would have been painful for a Tyson fan. Were you excited after the first round? When did you start to realize he wasn't going to beat Lewis?
When the fight was signed. Actually, probably before it. I tried to delude myself going into the fight that Tyson had a decent chance, I did it successfully to a certain extent, but I'd say the 2nd round snapped me back into reality.
I actually picked Lewis to win in 8. I don't know if I posted it here or secondsout, but that was my prediction. I think I had it on some other boards. I was sometimes terrible when it comes to picking Lewis fights. I picked against LL in the Rahman rematch and (hangs head in shame) the Golota fight.
I have what I call a "turtle" right now.. he keeps trying to peep his head out. Cuz the Shane fight this weekend.. it's like he wants to come out, but is not ready, if I push too hard he'll bust into my boxers and leave a brown spot
Good for you for being realistic. I recall a lot of Tyson fans picking him to win by KO and then, after the fight, claiming they "knew" Tyson was gonna lose. I think Esk picked Tyson to win in the first round! ::
even though I knew Mike was on drugs and real lethargic, I expected him to stop Lemmon the loser within 30seconds
best cure is when your favorite is fighting bet a lot of money on the other guy. that way it's a win win situation.
For sure. I hate it when somebody talks 2 me during the ring-walks/1st rnd. Everybody around me is yelling & screaming, & I feel as though I'm about to have a stroke.
Yep I was really nervous just before Jones-Tarver 2 & Jones- Ruiz. I was at times a hater of Roys, but I never wanted to see him go out like he did against Tarver in the second fight.
When Golota fought Grant and dropped him twice in the first I knew that if he didn't finish him then he'd fuck it up somehow which he did...i couldn't even watch i was anticipating Golota doing something retarded or getting cought
It REALLY Hits REED when Lamps DRAMATICALLY Says, "TALE of the TAPE", Preceding the Ringwalks... BEAUTIFUL Moment... REED
