I thought it was interesting. Especially featuring Shane's son - Shane Jr. who is supposed to have his first amateur fight next year.:cheer: I think HBO was trying to create controversy between Cotto and his trainer but they both downplayed it. Overrall Both Cotto and MOsley have alot of respect for each other and didn't do any trash talking.
yeah i was pleasantly surprised. Cotto is an introvert, and Shane is far too respectful to cause controversy of any kind (save for BALCO :: ). I thought it was gonna be on the bland side, but I thought they did a very good job with it. I'm already looking forward to the fight, not sure the show has me anticipating the fight any more so. But still, I enjoyed it, more so than the past few (Pac-MAB II, Hopkins-Wright, both of which were terrible, along with the fights themselves)
here it is for anyone who hasn't seen it..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g0n4ZiVyLEE ....was pretty good, but as i have said before, they could never make a 24/7 out of a fight like this.....the fight is big enough, but the personalities aren't .....Mayweather-Hatton 24/7 starts on the 18th.....should be good
That was exactly what I had thought at one point. I was like "how come Floyd-Hatton gets a 24/7 and not Mosley-Cotto?" Then I thought about the personalities and I was like ohhh.
It was a pretty boring countdown show. Both guys have no personality's. I like Jim Lampleys comment about Shane not being a jerk hurting his career. Its probably true. I think Shanes son was the best part of the show. He was alot slower then Shane but he was much more entertaining to listen too.
Shane's son looks like a soft pussy to me. He looked like he didn't want to hit the bag hard for fear of hurting it. Right now it looks like if Shane puts that kid in the ring it'll look like Forrest vs Mosley.
damn, you and I saw the exact opposite show :: ... I thought the part with Shane's son was actually the dullest. It was nice to see the bond, and that the son respects everything his father goes through in training to the point where he too is giving it his best effort. But beyond that... thought that part ran longer than it should've. I thought they made the most with what they had, and best of all, none of it felt forced. Compare that to, say Pac-Barrera II or Mayweather-Baldomir. Those two, along with Hopkins-Wright, were IMO the worst countdown specials HBO has done since they started up with the series. This one was kinda similar to Taylor-Wright (though I enjoyed that one more, in fact perhaps my favorite countdown special of the lot), where no, neither guy is particularly outgoing, but still proof that you can sell something without being dependent on controversy.
