I am sick of defending Warren

"Hopkins knows he will be beaten by Joe. That's why I feel that it will be a struggle to get him," said Warren.

    FROM BBC WEBSITE:

"We did a deal with Bernard Hopkins. It took us 30 minutes to do the deal five or six years ago," said Warren.

"We agreed terms, the lawyers were on the telephone, everything's done. Twenty-four hours later Hopkins demanded double the amount of money."

"We talked our heads off yesterday and the ball's in his court," Warren said.

"But I'm not going to push his name any more. What has he got in front of him? He has a rematch with Winky Wright which I'm sure the people who make Prozac and Mogadon will be queuing up to sponsor.

"Bernard keeps saying what a big name he is but is he a big name fighter? Let's get the fight on and we will do it in the States but it's about Joe getting well paid."

If Roy beats Tito, I bet Calzaghe/Jones for summer 08'......Jones will be more accomodating than Bernard will be at negotiation table.

Its like asking Michael Jackson for a dance Off. You kow that JustIn now busts a better move but the money and glory is all round out tappin MJ. Once MJ has has his old assed moon walked oer then JC will think Golden Boy promotions or the Baclstreet boys as they are otherwise known (minus the poof). Timberlake is left to polish off non entities like Usher and thin guy from that Idol show - pash.

Hopkins is an old ass lad wit a monkey and Calzaghe can spank that monkey good and hard. Hopkind doesnt need his monkey spanked and should concetrate on retire gracefully, but JC knows that monkey can be his and wants to spank it so much. simple.

fuck that....Calslappy had his opportunities to fight Hopkins and Jones in their primes...he didn't want any of that...Jones would've dominated him w/ ease. Hopkins would have won a decision over calslappy...

Back then Calslappy would mention those fighters name, but then say they would have to fight him in the UK..back when both those guys had the negotiation advantage over Calslappy..HOpkins being the middleweight champion of the world...and Jones being the undisputed LIGHT HEavyweight champion of the world...

but NOW that he has all the negotiation advantages he is willing to fight in the USA? bull..

shit Calslappy would not even move up a few pounds to fight Antonio TArver......Glenn Johnson called Calslappy out a few times...what could've been Calslappy reason for not fighting Glen JOHNSON? :dunno:

seems like jc's focus his whole career has been money. maybe "he's" the one who needs to bite the bullet if he intends on adding a major name to his resume.

    A fight with Kessler?!?

Hay - Time to sit back and apprciate the cat. OK Hopkins is one but what else? JC Retire - Hell no we need a challenge - I think Hopkins only guy up to 175 that presents so why not - Fuck I dont care if he squandered previous - he has done job now and is more marektabel than still active b-hop?

Warren has always been poor until his man is beyong ripe so I am sad never happend but I bet Joe w ould be desperate to get at b-hop

sure...but we have hear this same song before from Calslappy i wanna fight the best...at one time it was jones, tarver, hopkins, etc..but the fights never happen...

i would love to see Hopkins vs. Calslappy...i couldn't care less for either of them, but i think a fight between them will be interesting...Calslappy threws a ton of slaps/punches and Hopkins is a master at making his opponent fight the way he wants them to fight...

Calslappy wasted alot of time, he could've fought both TArver and Johnson between 2004-2006 but no he decided to fight a bunch of bums and then Lacy...

Glen Johnson has been calling Calslappy out for a while, and we all know he doesn't have a problem fighting Calslappy in the UK...i don't think he would win but he will give a Calslappy a good fight...

If it comes to that, I'd much rather see Calzaghe-Roy than Calzaghe (or anyone else) vs. Hopkins.

That said, Roy is already taking "short" money for the Tito fight. Not sure how many times in a row he's going to do that, especially against Calzaghe, who would have be considered a heavy favorite.

I agree that Roy/Joe would be way better than Hops.

Are you sure Roy is taking short money against Tito....thought it was 50/50?

What are reported guarantees for each fighter?

Well Hopkins has played hardball before. Le'st hope he don't fuck it up. Joe and Warren said they will do whatever it takes to make the fight happen.

who cares? you sound like you don't want it to happen.

so what if it could have been made before? There is talk right now because it could and should happen right now.

Actually if I remember correctly the guy who blew the negotiations last time was HOpkins. How about blaming him for change?:dunno:

what if they come to an agreement and all of a sudden Bernard wants more loot. somehow tha'ts JOe's fault again?

Calzaghe will go on and fight a few more bums........so says Warren.. you gotta question warren and calslappy NOW that they might have the upper hand in the negotioting table..now they wanna fight in the US?

and it should've happen years ago...

Didn't Roy take half of what Tito is making. Bottom line is though that Calzaghe hasn't put up Tito numers on PPV. Tito is a bigger draw then Roy so he had to take the small cut. Against Calzaghe i think Roy would look for around 50-50 especially if this PPV does good numbers.

I detest Warren...but in this case, he has the right of it.

If Hopkins "prices" himself out of the fight in terms of either the $$$ required or demands around location and conditions....

    It really is on Hops.

Calzaghe has minimum equal leverage; in reality he has more of it.

    Peace.

Had Hopkins simply not punked out disgracefully, it would have. Could you imagine Margarito pulling this sort of shit with Cotto?,..

..somehow I doubt you'd be so kind and understanding..:crafty:

Well, let's flip it around. Tito and Roy haven't put up Calzaghe numbers at the box office.

Calzaghe-Kessler alone sold more tickets than the COMBINED total for Trinidad's last three major fights (Wright, Mayorga, Hopkins).

Calzaghe-Kessler sold more tickets and pulled in a greater gate receipt than the COMBINED total of the Tarver-Jones trilogy.

Calzaghe's last two fights have sold more tickets than Roy's last seven.

For Calzaghe-Roy to happen, Roy will either have to take short money, or go to Wales. Joe has no reason to come to the states and settle for 50/50. Not at this stage of his career.
