Super-Middleweight title fight tonight at Nottingham Arena.
Froch's the latest contender to Joe Calzaghe's throne and I reckon he'll stop Reid in about 6 rounds.
The guy has massive power at 168 but sloppy defence.

Reid looked done against Magee and Lacy, didnt see the Brinkley fight but I doubt two years have improved him any...Froch by stoppage

Are the odds justified? Reid is a massive underdog in this one.

I never thought much of Froch. I like watching him fight, but was never left with the impression that he's the future of the division or anything.

I'll watch this today. Pissed that it wasn't last week, as it was literally my ticket to attend this AND Calzaghe-Kessler live on back to back nights :flip:

I think, at 30, he's too old anyway - so you're probably right.
However, he is the most exciting prospect in what is (outside Cruiserweight, anyway) generally considered the 'Division Of The Dead'.

    Reid took Joe Calzaghe down to the wire around 8 years ago {OK Joe broke his hand}

Years later again, Reid got busted in 7 by Lacy.

    Lacy, well he...........etc

The way Froch is built and the way he hits, I can't see him doing anything other than winning here tonight. Unless Reid can land a haymaker, and even decent punchers like Magee did that all night to no effect.

Froch I guess, Reid is no longer a force of any kind.

But Froch really isn't much good. A slow, predictable, plodding farmer with a punch.

It goes without saying, he would be absolutely clowned by Slappy.

Pretty much what I was thinking.

What did you think of Reid's fight v. Brinkley? Not that a win there is all that telling for a fight like this.

Froch is The Dog's Bollocks. :nono:
He can take any 168'er now - and he needs to crush Lucien Bute (and he will) before he gets to Calz-slaggy.

    War, Froch!

Mustard you don't really believe that. Pavlik would have Froch for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

    No fucking way.
Froch hits like a fucking cruiserweight.

    He's quicker than Pavlik, too.

You'll see....Froch is the truth. (and he's a big Nottingham Forest supporter too.)

Jake - have you seen Froch?
    He's got legit 175 power for a 168'er.

    The only weaknesses he has:
    1 - hands drop low
    2 - stamina

Big punchers are always exciting to watch and Froch is no exception.

I've changed my pick: Froch KO4 Reid

Froch isn't that fast. His tecnique is SORELY lacking. For a guy who hits like a "cruiserweight" he sure had a hard time with Brian MaGee. I'd pick Pavlik over Froch in a millisecond. He actually throws good straight punches.

    We shall se, Vald.

One fight against an Irish bum does noit a fighter make.

Froch killed Sergei Tatevoseyan in 2 rounds - Lucien Bute took 12 rounds to get a decision.
    Go figure.

I saw his fight against Henry PoorAss (HBO Latino) and caught a few others via stream. All of his fights I've seen him in were against no-hopers, so it's hard to gauge his true potential.

Agreed - but Robin Reid has a proven pedigree. And he has a great chin.
And he isn't shot - he hasn't take any big punishment against anyone.

Carl Froch is the 168lb Kelly Pavlik.

Bute's not really a puncher. He just outboxed Tatevosian. I am not saying Froch can't hit but the problem is that is about all he does well. He's not fast, his defense isn't good and his workrate isn't exceptionally high either.

Pavlik's a much better boxer than Froch.

Anyway, what other fight is showing besides this one? The listing says this runs for two hours. Is John Murray's fight also going to air?
