What have you got to say about Mosley's holding tonight? Fuck all, because you're biased :bears:

I dig Mosley and I'll be the first to say he was fucking impressive tonight, especally for a 36 year old. He threw more punches and finished stronger than the young, prime fighter.

But he was like a fucking octopus tonight, tying Cotto's arms up ALL THE TIME. Constantly grabbing Cotto's arms. It would have been a much better fight without the holding.

He did as much holding as Hatton did in the Castillo fight, and for some reason nobody says a word.

I said as much already. I agree completely. Whats worse, was that Mosley was holding to survive and spoil. Hatton holds to create offense. Mosley's style was mostly negative tonight.

Shane's what 36 and at the end of his career? Hatton goes from a slugger who never clinches to doing it all the time, plus Hatton's in his prime and still undefeated.

Mosley didn't learn how to clinch till Forrest nearly decapitated him.

Shane has never stuck out the joint in such horrid clincing fashion as Hatton did against Urango.

There is no comparison between Hatton's holding and Shane's tonight. None.

That was as much Forrest's fault as it was Shane's.

Hatton-Urango was a virtuoso clinching performance.

If you listen to the bitter Hatton-haters, that's all he does is clinch and hold. He managed to beat and stop a long time reigning champ in Tszyu (making his face look like a racoon that had been run over) just by simply wrestling. He was able to stop the guy who gave Fraud his toughest fight of his career in under four rounds by simply grappling. He wins every damn round againd Urango and it's all because of holding. He domintes all punch stat numbers plus scores a knockdown against Collazo and supposedly he's "owned." :eeeek:

Who the fuck uses other peoples stats to back up there argument?

A person who doesn't have their own argument that's who.

What is your argument? That Collazo won the fight.

Funny that the guy you claim just holds and grapples, I've even heard comparisons to John Ruiz, still throws 80 punches a round, still doesnt take a step back, and still is in there working for 36 minutes every fight.

Your fighter is washed up. Your pediction sucked. Go find another fagwagon to jump on to. :kick:

First of all I don't recall using that analogy. Secondly if I saw it, and felt that way it's fine. But punchstat numbers are somebody else's stats.

All I'm saying is it's not like Cal sat there and counted punches and he's using his own punchstats. So I'm no hypocrite because I've never in my posting life used punchstats as the basis for my argument.

 You got me there. I'll never win an argument again for at least a year.

Still though, I can't recall if I felt Collazo actually won the fight or not, but I do know it was not a good victory for Hatton. If Hatton did win, it was by the slimest of margins and he did run back down to 140. That's a fact.

For once I agreed with Kellerman, that something should be done about excessive holding, because it is fight altering. Pressure fighters are already at a serious disadvantage in twelve round fights, but with all the holding, they have no chance to put hurtful combos together, because they´ll be tied up all the time. Way too many fighters have found relief in the John Ruiz combination, the 1-2 punch, 3-4-5 grab, clutch and hold-combination. Being tired doesn´t give you the right to hold on forever. Refs should more actively take points and eventually DQ fighters to stop this negative trend.

Thats exactly the way I see it. People are praising Mosley for being brave and surviving for 12 hard rounds? Why? Look how he got to that point; he held litterally every single time Cotto got into his grill and was about to wail away at his guts.

Fans piss and moan when it's holding involving a fighter they don't like...but go real quiet on the matter when its a guy everybody loves. Forget that, Shane Mosley fought a cowards fight at times tonight, regardless of his late rally. He only was around to make the rally because he spent the previous 5 rounds cheating his way through the contest.

    It needs to be fixed.

First off, I just rewatched the fight, bro (and just watched rounds 9-12 for a third time)....no doubt Shane impressed me with how strong he finished. But I actually believe Cotto - he chose to box off the back foot those last 4. As I look closer, he was pretty fresh and did very well in rounds 9 & 11 (winning them on my card) - and looked fine in the 12th though he was playing keep away.

    As to your other point.

I mention (and did in my prediction) that Shane does like to clinch. That's true.

But the fact is, he does not do it nearly as consistently or viciously as Hatton in recent years.

I just don't see them being equal in this regard.

That being said, I agree with the general sentiment that holding needs to start being much more regulated!

    Peace.

    Peace.

    Yeah...

Shane fought like a scared pussy trying to survive for most of that fight until Cotto inexplicably started to back up.

I didn't give Shane more than 3 rounds in that fight. I thought Miguel won handily...

Mosley clinched some but hes still not on Hattons level as a clincher. Shanes holding didn't stink out the joint tonight. I rewatced the last 2 rounds of Hatton Collazo and counted over 20 clinches in round 11 and over 30 in round 12. This fight didn't have nearly as many clinches as that.

Isn't Vicky a pressure fighter. He does it by running in either throwing a hook and holding right away so his opponent can't come back or he does runs straight into the clinch.

Bottomline if you take clinches away from December 8 it will be a massacure.

I count 20 clinches. There would have been more if the ref broke them up. Alot of them clinches were tackles where he didn't even throw a punch first. Just runs in to tie him up.

That shit is funny as hell. Hatton was bear huggin the shit out of Callazo. As a matter of fact the Chargers could have used him against Adrien Peterson last week. I'll Holla 5000

I echo the general sentiments of the others in this thread who pointed out that Shane indeed held often tonight, but it does not reach the level of some Hatton fights.

I was disappointed in how often Shane wanted to clinch since he is an accomplished & elite fighter. I think in his defense that he had to hold quite a bit to keep things under control better from his standpoint, and to prevent himself from getting too badly hurt when Cotto was pressing the action and landing.

But those who are using Cotto-Mosley as some sort of poster-fight in the crusade to ban clinching are running with the wrong campaign. There have been SOOOO many other fight that were much, much worse in that regard. In fact, the Casamayor/Santa Cruz fight(robbery) on the undercard tonight had Casamayor literally employing a two-arm forklift type superclinch all night long.

I'm all for cleaning up the sport with much more stern warnings, deductions, and even DQs for excessive holding, but give Shane a break holding far less than the Hattons & Casamayors do, against a far more punishing opponent.

Hey, people gave Judah credit for not fighting back and taking his beating like a man. Everyone said he showed real guts that night. Really? Being too bitched up to fight back is a sign of balls? Not in my book.

I didn't praise Judah for rolling on the ground like a fucken girl and trying to find a way out. He fought with a little more brass than usual, but thats not a whole lot.

Still, he didn't hold a zillion times either. It wasn't a manly performance from Mosley at all, IMO.
