I would not have been crying if the fight was a draw. However, I can see Cotto winning 7-5. A draw would have been sweet forcing these two guys to fight again. I'll Holla 5000
I struggle with that, honestly. Closest I can see it is 7-5. Some folks I respect highly have it a draw....and they seem to be surprised at a wider margin, and I respect that. But personally, I can't see a draw the more I think about it...especially after rewatching. Peace.
Right. I can budge from my scoring and go 7-5 Cotto if I had to, but no way 6-6. This is one of those fight wherein the 7 rounds Cotto needed to win were really clearly won. In fact, I had this feeling before the fight that there would be a larger number of even rounds which would make the scoring contoversial, but as it turned out this was not the case, and the fight was easy to score. I think Shane fans should take a hard listen to what he said after the fight and do their best to impartially assess what he was getting at. He was admitting his loss, and was graciously and with his pride deservedly intact conceding he got beat up.
I had it 6-5-1 Cotto, thought it was going to be a draw, but understand the argument that Cotto won a close but clear fight. Even on my card, I gave all of the close rounds to Shane, with 1 even. Any card straying the other way even just one round, and it's Cotto's without question. But yes, I could see a draw - even though if you HAD to pick a winner, then the right guy won.
