WBC President Jose Sulaiman oversaw a busy and productive day at the general assembly meeting on Tuesday at the WBC’s 45th annual convention at the Manila Hotel. Some of the resolutions of the day include: Manny Pacquiao was awarded an Emeritus Championship at a very emotional ceremony last night. maybe I'm nitpicking too much... but shouldn't Manny first WIN the WBC title before being "earning" Champion Emeritus status? Or is this left over from his stellar flyweight reign way back when?
that's what i was about to say. but doesnt the emeritus status just mean that you're guaranteed of a title shot? in that sense, shouldnt every #1 contender also share this emeritus status? ::
This is Sooooooooooo PATHETIC, it's Actually FUNNY:: ... No Doubt, the "Emeritus" Championship has a SANCTIONING FEE Attached... It NEVER Ceases to AMAZE REED how these Organizations CONTINUE to CHEAPEN the Meaning of Being a "Champion"... We have MULTIPLE "Champions" per Weight Class, we have INTERIM "Champions", SUPER "Champions", YOUTH "Champions", LATINO "Champions" & Now "Champion" EMERITUS... Pretty Soon, the Sanctioning Bodies will Hand Out Belts for LINEAR & UNCROWNED "Champions"...& After that, they'll Designate Super DUPER "Champions"... REED::
Suleiman has been ripping Manny for weeks. now he gives him this emeritus tittle hoping Manny makes the JMM fight. Suleiman is desperate to collect the sanctioning fee for that fight.
