Five-time world champion Felix "Tito" Trinidad and eight-time world champion Roy Jones Jr. spent all day at ESPN headquarters in Bristol, Conn., on Tuesday promoting their upcoming match dubbed "Bring on the Titans" set for Jan. 19 at Madison Square Garden and on HBO Pay-Per-View, Roy appeared live on the morning show "First Take" with host Dana Jacobson and went over the day's "Hot List" with David Lloyd and paricipated in a chat on ESPN.com. Tito taped interviews for ESPN International and ESPN Deportes and chatted with fans at ESPNdeportes.com. ESPN staffers created huge lines for a 90-minute autograph signing in the ESPN employee cafeteria by Jones and Trinidad.
:bears: thanks Cupey awesome.. I can't wait to see this fight.. I just feel like Tito has lost it.. mentally.. I mean WHAT the hell is he DOING?? he might get killed!!!
This fight is getting exactly ZERO press.:dunno: Nobody gives a sh*t about it other than a few hardcore boxing fans. Too bad!
After Tito KO's roy, he'll be the first welterweight to capture the heavyweight title. THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME... FELIX TITOOOOOOOOOOOO TRINIDAD!
What are you talking about? Espn is giving huge coverage.....this fight will do at least 500,000 buys, which is a hell of alot more than Marco/Manny, Bernard/Winky, heck anyone except for Oscar events.
Ummm... They're at ESPN's headquarters...they were at the Juan Diaz fight, they we at the Mosley-Cotto fight... I think they're getting tons of publicity. I wonder if HBO will do a Countdown special.
Its funny cause if this fight had been made 6 years ago it woulda been a MUCH bigger fight than Mayweather-Hatton. Now its a fight nobody cares about, and for good reason. Both these old men shouldnt be fighting anymore.
They're getting publicity because of who they are, not what they are. What they are right now today are shells of what they were. 2 aged boxers who can't seem to quit. Doesn't it become ridiculous when a guy like Trinidad continues making comeback after comeback? He's a mockery now, a joke! And Roy is finished.:dunno: This fight will bomb.
but your earlier claim was that this fight is getting ZERO press. That was the part that was being disputed. So which is it? Are they getting zero press, or are they getting press based off of their names?
Where I live, they're getting zero press. I have to look on ESPN to find anything. Nobody is talking about this fight at all whereas before, mega fights were the talk of the town.:dunno: Maybe things will pick up as we get closer.
I'm just kiddin', man....I just couldn't resist. Where in Canada? There are beautiful places up there.
No you're right. This is hockey country. Canadians have no interest in anything other than hockey. No surprise why we're not getting any press/coverage of Jones/Trinidad. I live in Ontario. It's ok for taking photos of the landscape but other than that, meh!
I saw Roy Jones interviewed on ESPN the other day, and he's starting to slur his words just a little. He' clearly wasn't as well spoken and articulate as he was in the past. He needs to hang them up for good before he's mumbling like Tommy Hearns, Meldrick Taylor or Joe Frazier. TFK
I saw roy's interview on ESPN....he wasn't slurring at all....in fact he looks healthy and ready to go. I do agree that Roy shouldn't hang around too much longer though.....not that he can't hang with the landscape but rather what's the point. It's like watching Jordan on the Wizards. If he get's past Tito, I suspect Roy will go after one more megafight(Hopkins or Calzaghe) and call it a day.....maybe a hometwn showing in p-cola.
