Juan said on the other site that a fight between himself and Katsidis is going to purse bids. Should be a good fight.

Boxing´s most decorated champion keeps his belts. I like it. Half the chumps would have dumped the belt, because three months between two fights are not enough time or the mandatory is unworthy. To the real lightweight champ.

Should be a good one, if Katsidis ever plans to rob a bank, this is his chance, Juan Diaz will rearrange his face for free.

agREED. the only thing I don't like about the upcoming 2008 bouts is that it leaves Nate Campbell and potentially David Diaz out in the cold. Of course, nothing would prevent them from fighting each other - but I don't see HBO or Showtime being interested in that fight, and both deserve more than an ESPN/Telefutura payday to fight each other.

Diaz/Katsidis is the best fight you can make at lightweight and it isn't close. :bears:

From an action standpoint, I almost agree.

As far as it being competitive...

    (cover your eyes, Tam Tam)

I don;t think it will be. At all.

Combine the two, and I'd rather first see Katidis-David Diaz.

No? You think Diaz will just dominate him?

But yes, I think a great double header could be Juan Diaz/Casamayor and Katsidis/David Diaz with the winners getting each other.

Should be a great fight....Diaz should mostly be winning the rounds, but Katsidis will be in it in spots and is always a risk to hurt Juan.

    Peace.

Diaz' workrate; SPEED; coupled with his size and his tighter defense.

    Katsidis can't match it.

What keeps Michael in the fight is that I think he can hurt Juan - and he does occasionally fire off tight, short hooks which can be effective. He's also very strong physically.

Katsidis may very well get REALLY busted up.

This fight DOES run the risk of looking quite a bit like Juan Diaz-Jose Cotto; but somewhat more competitive.

    Peace.

Nate Campbell gets a chance at a title? Go figure.

And he has to fight Ricky Quiles in an eliminator? I wonder what sanctioning body would put up that matchup?

I think Katsidis is going to be somewhat competitive, due to the sheer amount of fight he has in him, his aggression, and good power. Plus Diaz's relative lack of power, should mean he won't have any qualms about coming forward and throwing a lot.

But he doesn't have much of a chance. Diaz is simply the better, more polished, more experienced fighter.

I guess I just don't see Juan completely wiping his ass with Katsidis.

I think the fight will be competitive in that Katsidis would have his moments in every round. I just don't believe he will win too many of them. My statement before was based on my belief that the fight would be more action-packed and appear to be more competitive than the final scores indicate. An occasion where judging the fight as one-36 minute round (if it lasts that long) would far differ than scoring 12 separate rounds.
