Yes it is relevant some fighters are naturally bigger the Zab example is stupid. Fact of the matter is Hatton stepped and looked small compared to collazo. And yes he took the shots stayed on his feet and won clearly on poiints. what more could he do.
I remember Hatton - Collazo at the time and thinking then that Hatton was out-of-his league at 147. Collazo definately froze him in Rd12, though. I just think that someone like Mayweather would land another 2 or 3 shots flush in that situation. :dunno: And Collazo - from having had 2 shots at a title, hasn't done much since: he went from fighting 4-5 times a year to what, once a year? Doesn't say much about Collazo.
Speed kills. Although Tszyu is a much harder puncher than Floyd, because of the speed factor I think Floyd can hurt Hatton more than Tszyu ever did. Hell one of Floyd's counter right hands momentarly buckled Oscar, but DLH has a granite chin. If he catches Hatton with that same kinda right hand I PROMISE you Hatton will be hurt. Floyd is gonna rock Hatton, and possibily stop him. Just wait and see.
Funny you say that. Hatton is naturally a fat ass who wears 175+ pounds in between fights. Looked small? Shorter, yes. That's obvious. Smaller? No. The fact of the matter is on fight night, Hatton outweighed Collazo. Clearly won? Yeah, clearly won by the skin of his teeth.
Hatton stuffs his face between fights and his weight drastically rises - not exactly natural. Hatton struggle in this fight [and does at 147] no doubt but the result was clear.
You should be banned for saying I should be banned. Hatton was caught and didnt look great in the fight but did you honestly think Collazo had a chance when it went to the judges card. I think not.
No I didnt. I knew once it went to the cards they were gonna give it to Hatton. Collazo had to stop him to win it. But make no mistake about it, Collazo WON that fight! And even if you did have Hatton winning, if you think it was a "clear" victory, your borderline retarded.
Your right. Not his best shot the right hand. He landed a number of good left hooks on Hatton, but hooks have never been Zoo's best punches. Hatton never really tasted a full force Tszyu right hand, and thats to his credit. He smothered Tszyu, and never let Kostya get one off. But Mayweather will be hitting Hatton ALOT more than Tszyu did.
Yep. I don't think Mayweather can do serious damage with single shots (possible but not likely) against Hatton, but it's the amount. Hatton is not exactly immune to cuts and swelling. Against a sharp shooter like Floyd he very well could get busted up even if it's not by big power shots. How Ricky's skin holds up could be very important.
Agreed. Hatton has a good chin, but its not as good as DLH's, or Bumlomir's. Granted Bumlomir is crap, but he does have an iron jaw. I think Floyd is gonna surprise alot of ppl in this fight, at least those who are expecting him to run. I think he's gonna stand in the pocket against Hatton, and counter the shit outta him.
I think he'll at least try. It depends on how sucessfull that is. If Floyd starts to get abused i think he'll switch to boxing. Mayweather is one of best ever in the sport at making adjustments based upon what's working.
Yeah, they're both good at making they're opponent fight their fight. It's a battle of who can impose their style and rythm to the fight primarily.
True. I think Floyd's physical strength is gonna be a factor in this fight. Some are thinking Hatton can bully him the way Castillo did, but that fight was back when Floyd was JUST moving up from 130 and hadnt adjusted to 135 yet. He's been at 147 for awhile, Hatton is the one who's moving up. Hatton's only hope is to be able to bully Floyd. If Floyd can push him back, and not get bullied by him, then Hatton has NO hope at all!
True. Hatton bring so much energy and aggression to a fight it's very difficult for opponents to get into any kind of rhythm. I just think that once Floyd find a way to start winning rounds it will be too hard for Hatton to change the direction of the fight. That's a big reason i'm picking Mayweather.
Against Tszyu his chin looked great....and perhaps when he is fired up like that it does make a difference he has been hurt several times.....Collazo had him in trouble late, but Hatton was very tired, Urango had him hurt to the body, but he's a strong fighter i don't know if that is a weakness but i think it is something Floyd will try.......Hatton wasn't that hurt when he was knocked down by Magee, however he was hurt in the 2nd round against Magee when Mickey Vann stepped in and bought Ricky some time for no apparent reason.......and the other time i have seen Ricky hurt was against Vince Phillips when he took a huge right uppercut in the 4th.....he did well not to go down
Hatton-Collazo was an extremely close fight. No way in hell did Hatton clearly win it. Hatton has a good chin. Maybe Mayweather can stop him from cuts or a sustained beating, or the body, but I doubt Hatton's chin will be a problem.
Disagree, bro. In the middle rounds Tszyu finally started finding his range and landed some damn good right hands right down the middle on Ricky as he was coming in. Now, they may not have been "perfect" shots - fully leveraged, full follow-through, angled so Hatton couldn't see it, etc....:: But they were quite good sharp, short, crisp right hands. Hatton's chin is solid. Maybe not excellent, but solid. Good chin. And :: at the suggestion that Hatton "clearly won" the Collazo fight. I had him losing it. Peace.
Yeah he did. I don't recall what round but at one stage he lined Hatton up and smacked him with a straight right to the chin as Hatton came in. Spray went everywhere. Ricky froze, nodded at Tszyu in acknowledgement then hugged him furiously to recover. The rest of the time Hatton had good right hand defence, it was obviously he knew it was the money punch. I don't think chin is an issue for either guy. Hatton's may be marginally stronger, but then he'll get hit a lot more than Floyd.
Definitely. People always ASSume that Floyd's chin is suspect just because he's a quick slick fighter that doesn't like getting hit. But the dude has never been down (truly down) and has been nailed flush by guys like De La Hoya, Judah, Castillo and others. Chin isn't the question for Floyd...my only fear is Hatton's body punches.
