True but Oscar is a much better boxer than Vargas, and can take a better punch. Mayorga did land a really hard uppercut on De La Hoya that momentraily stunned him.

I want to see what happens when Vargas gets hit like that.

I think Nando's being the bigger man in this fight might be more of an advantage than his superior boxing skills.

 

I was saying that in response to the suggestion that it's the same Mayorga who fought Forrest.

Both these guys aren't even as good as their last fights, let alone their big wins. Part of that makes it interesting, and part of that makes it lame.

Because of the "warrior mentalities" of both guys it appears good on paper. However the more i think about it, the more i think the fight will be a let down and i already have low expectations.

Having it @ 166 hasn't helped either.

 

I know Vargass has been whupped by the top tier guys but I Think you guys are really dis-crediting his skills.. Vargas IMO is on another level from Mayo.. he actually knows how to box. I'm sure this fight will mostly be brawling but the more skill he uses the more he has a shot to whup Mayo, the only way Mayo has a chance IMO is if Vargass abandens all and just goes for broke and then Mayo MIGHT have a chance.. even then Vargass is the bigger man

I'd like to see this fight, as I think it'll be fun, but ain't no way I'm paying $45 for it.

my pick is Vargas by stoppage.

But this fight has so many intangibles. The weight, the end of their careers. Vargas can knock him out if he frustrates him by boxing in the beginning, with jabs going to the body but if Mayorga hurts him just a little bit, he could see an opening to start unleashing, the trouble is they will be wide looping shots.

if Vargas is well tucked in his defensive posture, he could counter with straight shots down the middle.

Vargas the more technical fighter, but who has the most at this point in their careers is an ENIGMA. I would never BET on this fight.
