Right. Manfredo is a name that is there to get KTFO. Hes orthodox and hittable. Just what G wanted to get Lacy his confidence back.
yeah Lacy's a pretty big favourite, but Manfredo has a chance....if Lacy can't get him out of there early then it could be like the Sheika fight all over again
let's not forget: presumably, Lacy will be without the benefit of a crooked Welsh referee. so any expectation for an early stoppage has to be tempered. also, Lacy isn't a boxer the way Slappy is. Manfredo will have much more success controlling Lacy if he's able to use his aggression against him and find countering opportunities.
yeah. it's not like Manfredo can't take a punch. and as much problems as he had getting going against Calzaghe, he's at least twice as good a boxer as Lacy is.
Kind of what I was thinking, though I believe Manfredo will manage to do better than just appear to be competitive. It's been a while since Lacy's looked good in a fight. Hell, its been a year since he was in ANY fight at all, and has never been the type to look sharp coming off of any type of layoff. Not to mention we have no clue how well he's recovered from surgery, or if his rotator's cuff even completely healed.
I can't believe they would be so dumb to let him fight if it wasn't completely healed. As for the lines i think that fight should be a -350 +300 kind of affair...
some injuries never fully heal, and it then becomes a question of whether you want to deal with it, or simply retire young. Case in point, Vernon Forrest - who flat out admits that he will never again be 100% healthy, but doesn't feel like he's at the point where he should no longer be fighting.
Nowhere, I was just answering the thread. When I said I had him, I meant that is what I would make it.
I think this fight is a toss up. Hard to pick this one because I'm not sure what to expect from either guy. Both were very dissapointing the last time I saw them. Some think Lacy is shot after the Calzague beating and the poor showing against Typsko. I disagree, the guy had an injury during the Typsko fight and still won. I'll wait to see him again. I never though much of Manfredo but I heard he had improved alot. he completely froze against Calzague and made that a waste of a fight.
Virchis and Calzaghe were both 1. Tall 2. Southies 3. Could box. Manfredo has none of these attributes I like him, but he's small and not particularly skilled, especially in defense. Unless Lacy has CUMpletely gone to seed, then this is Jeffs.
You mean Tsypko? The reason I think Manfredo is live is because he can earmuff his way inside and once there he actually moves his hands and can fight inside very well. That gives Lacy problems. I think Lacy should win, make no mistake - I just don't think he'll look as dominant doing it as he "should". Peace.
Yeah but since Calzaghe, Jeff isn't going to look anywhere near as "Dominant" as he "should"....the same way Tyson wasn't, post Douglas. People know think they can beat Jeff, and that makes Jeff just another fighter, with all the problems that entails.
yeah but it's also going to be his 4th fight this year, and 5th in 14 months. Not that surgery is something simple to overcome - but it's the only detriment for Manfredo (aside from his not being very good). He's had two confidence builders since the Calzaghe abortion of a fight. Lacy hasn't looked good in over two years - and that was in a performance that Manfredo matched, if not surpassed, just four months later.
Lacy has never been a dominant fighter. Let's be realistic here. the guy lost several rounds to Vanderpool,Wiggens and Sheika. Lacy is/was a good fighter but he's NEVER been a dominating guy.
Hey I don't follow the comeback fights of Joe Calzaghe victims, unless its a Joe-Calzaghe-Victim-Unification-Bout.
