A Clottey fight will be a very good test. I have a feeling PBF will continue to avoid Cotto.

Please Cotto is ducking Floyd! He's looking for easy matches to further pad his unbeaten record.

What I got out of the article was that they're hoping an Oscar fight happens, but that it's only been briefly discussed. Whereas plans for a Cotto/Margarito doubleheader in March, followed by a head-to-head collission in June, sound more concrete/reliable.

All that said, I'm not 100% certain Clottey gets past Shamone Alvarez in a couple of weeks (forget if they fight next week on Versus, or on the broadcast after). Either way, I see "Plan B" being the one that actually happens, with Cotto-GLH remaining a pipe dream at best.

Half-true. Floyd won't do the fight so long as Arum is involved in the promotion in any way, shape or form. And until the day comes where Mayweather Promotions becomes more than a shell company, Floyd will always need another promoter to finance his events.

De La Hoya vs Cotto would be an interesting fight. But Floyd-Cotto is the best fight that can be made. I'd settle for Cotto-Margarito though.

PBF ducks all prime-level 147 pounders. Period. Fact. There's absolutely no counter-example to refute that claim.

So how can anyone claim him to be number 1 P4P? Should that title go to the fighter who is challenging himself against the best?

Haha! You mean it's fne and dandy for Floyd to fight Oscar to "Pad his unbeaten record" but when Cotto wants to fight Oscar for a huge payday it's suddenly not ok?

Cotto just beat Shane who is better than anyone Floyd has ever faced.

silly me, I reckoned 'prime-level' was a reference to fighters in their prime.

I thought Oscar won the rematch with Shane. AND Oscar is younger than Shane. AND Oscar's beaten better fighters than Shane has overall.

So who's beating the BEST in your opinion Double L? Who should be the P4P?

That explains why you figured Floyd had no chance against Oscar.

    PBF didn't duck shit!

He went after Zab judah because that's the fight he wanted since Zab beat the previous unified champion, Cory Spinks, by KO. Most people felt that Zab was better than Baldomir even though he was upset by him. Zab was a solid challenge. Floyd beat him up. Then people complained that Baldomir was the TRUE champion so guess what...Floyd fights the TRUE CHAMP (Cotto and Marge Simpson...were NOT the champion) and dominates him. Then Money Mayweather goes after the great Oscar (a more formidable challenge than any 147der at the time) for a 5th title. And get's it. Now he's fighting Ricky Hatton who just came off impressive voctories over ZOO and Castillo and is himself unbeaten. Please! When did he DUCK Marge Simpson or Cotto?

Floyd has kept busy and fought decent fighters in meaningful fights.

According to Evagelista if Cotto can't get a fight with DLH in May he will fight Clottey in March. With Margorito fighting Jose Luis Castillo with the winners fighting in June. DLH's first choice of opponent is said to be Zab Judah.

Stop right there. Zab's asking price went WAY down as a result of the loss to Baldomir. That's why the Floyd-Zab fight became a lot easier to make (that and the IBF letting Zab hold onto his title since Baldy didn't bother to pay sanctioning fees for it). Had nothing to do with anyone believing Zab was still his most formidable challenge.

the rest of your post sounded right, though you are still ignoring the Floyd/Arum rift, which is the main (if not only) reason why neither are talking about a Floyd-Cotto fight happening any time soon.

I haven't seen Shamone fight that often, but while he has a difficult style he looked pretty bad coming down the stretch of his last fight (against Sanders). He appears to be very weak, physically, especially in his legs.

    It could be interesting.

Everyone fuckin knows that Floyd is going to retire without EVER fighting Cotto ....
That is so easy to see ... I have been saying this since before the Gatti fight.
