And at that time, Arum and Cotto's trainer and team were saying they weren't ready for Floyd. That pretty much kept going until Floyd left Arum and now Mr. "Yesterday I was lying.." changed from Floyd is too much for Miguel to Cotto would destroy Floyd, he wants none.

There will always be some idiots I guess.

Floyd has always ducked the great Cotto Yeiiiiiiii

I didn't say he was ducking him. I have always said that Floyd will retire before he ever fights Cotto.
As it is he obviously just elected to fight the lesser of the 3 evils ..
Notice how he stayed nice and retired until the Cotto/Mosely fight was made ... Then he fights Hatton ..
    Give me a break ...

The Hatton fight was already made when Cotto and Mosley signed to fight.

Golden Snaggle Tooth was talking about Mayweather fighting Mosley, but Mayweather elected to fight Hatton. There was also talk after Williams-Margarito about Cotto fighting Margarito anyway in November despite Margarito losing, but Oscar and Bob made up and made Pac-MAB 2 for October and Cotto-Mosley for November.

Shamone has been televised at least 8 times. The Sanders fight was the worst he's looked, that I remember anyway. I've seen his Mdec win against Gutierrez, but don't remember disliking the performance like I did against Sanders.

It's a very interesting matchup. I'm leaning Alvarez, but without much confidence.

No desire to see Cotto fight either guy. I'd rather get Williams into the mix, but he is an easy guy to duck, it seems.

Are you sure about this ? I could have sworn Cotto/Mosely was made first.

    Yup...he also says the double-header would be Cotto-Clottey - and Margarito-Castillo.

Cotto-Mosley, which was in the works for a while, was finalized 2-3 weeks after Floyd-Hatton was announced. I forget the exact dates, but it was something like late July for Floyd-Hatton, mid-August for Cotto-Shane.

This was all ARUM talking, btw....

Evangelista Cotto says the question by the press was the first he's heard of these plans.

He says they prefer to fight DLH or Mayweather, but neither want to fight Cotto....so they'll fight Clottey if they have to.

As RJR said too, he mentions the DLH's first choice of opponent is Zab Judah.

    Peace.

Anytime Miguel Cotto speaks on his future plans, it's Bob Arum talking.

Using your own words , Mosely/Cotto wasn't completely finalized until after Floyd/Hatton was announced ...
So yeah , It was finalized after Floyd/Hatton was ANNOUNCED but it was made first ... Announcing a fight and finalizing a fight are two different things... As far as I know , everyone along with Floyd knew Cotto was going to fight Mosely and then this Hatton fight came about.

Mayweather and Hatton started negotations pretty much right after the Hatton-Castillo fight.

I don't think the negotiations for Cotto and Mosley were going on that early, at least publically (we never know what's going on behind the scenes especially with someone like Arum who's lying 101% of the time).

Well, Mayweather had to fight Hatton after he bad-mouthed him in the ring (which just happened to be piped into the crowd of 10,000 British fans).

Still, nobody expected they'd fight this soon.

I don't see why it was such a surprise. :dunno:

I expected Mayweather to look to see if Hatton would beat Castillo and then fight him, as we all know Floyd's "retirement" was a joke.

    Good fight.
I guess Cotto wants to continue to out-do PBF.
    So far so good...

Nope, not the way it went at all. As mentioned earlier in the thread, Floyd-Hatton began basically the moment Ricky talked shit about him in his post-fight interview from the Castillo fight.

Floyd claimed he was retired, but wanted a Shane fight as early as last year. Shane got a toothache... we know the rest. But Golden Boy didn't push for that fight after Floyd-GLH.

Meanwhile, Cotto was holding out for the outcome of Williams-Margarito. If Tony won it was Cotto-Margarito in November. Otherwise, Plan B.

Plan B became Shane. By that point, Floyd and Hatton were already deep into negotiations.

Anyway you slice it, Floyd-Hatton was put together before Cotto-Shane.

Good point. How is it then that PBF is the man to beat @147?

Clever but it doesn't necessarily work that way.

If a P4P superstar moves up and beats the champion of a division, HE IS the man to beat at that weight regardless of what the other clowns in teh division had done recently. It's always been that way.

clottey? that's a hell of a let down if cotto doesn't land the DLH fight.

Clottey is a decent fighter but after Mosley and possibly DLH that should be the last fight Cotto should be pursuing.

Cotto deserves major props for fighting Clottey, and I'd rather see that then him matched up against a lesser version of Oscar who I wish would just go away and retire.

I like Clottey but I don't give him much chance of beating Cotto. Clottey's just too mentally deficient and wears down too easily which would play right into Cotto's hands.

I don't know if it's "major props" but I agree it's no "letdown".

Clottey is a very good opponent at 147.

    Peace.
