Why rerash old atrocities? Why not look to the future with optimism? Why remind people that slavery also existed in Africa? Black on black slavery. Sound familiar? Black on black crime?

We all committed mistakes as kids, so did a lot of great people, but they don't dwell on it for the rest of their lives. They LEARN from it and MOVE ON.

EDUCATION is key. The better educated, more affluent afroamericans the better our country is for it.

FORGIVE and you will be forgiven. Judge and you'll be judged. Knock and the door shall open. Ask and it shall be given to you.

All those people who committed those CRIMES to humanity are long gone. You should not pay for the crimes committed by your ancestors.

I can understand why he's done it just to wind Calzaghe up but it's an uneccassary comment I've never heard Hopkins be racist before and have no idea why he's started now what the fuck's it got to do with the fight ? How stupid will he look if he loses.

yeah - fighters usually sell their fights on the strength of the entertainment value of their previous fights. in hopkins' case, that doesn't amount to a whole lot, especially considering how stinky his fight was with Wright. so he has to resort to race baiting. and whether or not he's truly racist, it's still a horrible thing to employ for economic gain.

Hopkins isn't racist; he's inflammatory. He does these things to get his opponents agitated because that's the way he wants them to be heading into the fight; they get focused on just kicking his ass and somehow they get lulled into this grappling match and find out of nowhere that this guy is stronger than he looks. His pace at the start looks sluggish, and his pace at the end looks brisk, yet it's exactly the same throughout, and effective. Even in his big losses to Jones Jr and Taylorx2, there is NO question that he did better in the second halfo of the fight than he did in the first half. He does not fade.

Having said that, neither has Calzaghe. He does what Hopkins does in terms of consistent output, but at a higher volume. The difference, I think, is the punching form, but I don't think it should be mocked anymore. He appears to be heavy handed, so rather than turning his punches completely over and exhausting himself, he ups the ante and throws lots of punches with no full impact on a single one.

I think that's the big factor in a fight like this, and guarantees that without a knockout, approx. half of the crowd will be furious. Either Calzaghe gets credited for bursts of energy but not necessarily "clean" landed punches (and some are surprised that he had a dip in his workrate) Or Hopkins lands in single digits but his punches are so clear (and his body punches, as always, are comletely ignored) and he looks a little fresher at the end that he gets a close nod.

The bigger question is who is willing to go where, since neither man has done much of anything to indicate that they'll budge from their country opcorn:

I wouldn't say forget about it and I wouldn't think it either. What I would say is don't take it out on the people who haven't done anything to you. It always comes down to some people always complaining about racism, and then there's a lot of people who don't partake in it and they get tired of hearing others complain all the time. Whenever I hear, "White people do this" or "white people do that", it makes me sick because the person saying it doesn't realize they themself are being a bigot by generalizing about white people. :dunno:
