The fight wasn't "easy"....but neither was it THAT hard from what I saw.

PBF stuck to his plan, adapted enough....and it seemed to go exactly as expected.

PBF did MUCH better in the clinches than most expected.

Hatton made it rough and didn't let PBF use his feet as much as "normal", that is true.

    Peace.

It's amazing that Hatton fans want to cry about a rough fight. He tried to bully Mayweather and Floyd was just the tougher guy.

    Damn..

I never really liked Floyd much, but I must say with grudging shock that I cannot believe how much better of a fighter Floyd is than Ricky Hatton. The difference is just stunning. Hatton is not even in Floyd's league.

Hatton is a dumb fighter, not even knowing how to use the skills he has to his advantage. His clinching had become such a habitual thing he was constantly clinching when it was to his disadvantage, fighting inside when it was to his detriment. He charged in like he always does, tired after 5 rounds, hands down at his sides, getting popped on the way in over, and over, and over.

I would have liked to have seen Hatton shut Floyd's big mouth tonight, but dear Lord, Hatton was out-lasted, out-fought, out-smarted, out-boxed, out-slugged, everything.

I still contend that what we saw tonight was in large part the exposure of Ricky Hatton's complete 1 dimensional nature and inability to think in the ring, not his exposure as a bum or a bad fighter. Although he prides himself on this supposed ability ("cleverness") he is deluding himself. Without a careful application of his strengths to help offset his weaknesses, Hatton is DOA against top-level fighters. Against GOOD fighters, he will win most, and he is certainly not a bum.

But against the top echelon he simply is out of his league, and Floyd showed just how far out of it he was tonight. It really is a shame, because with Ricky's pressure style, good footwork, good angles, great body-punching, and great heart, he could really be something more if he was under the right trainer with the right guidance and fight plan.

But as it stands now, he is really now relegated to being a good fighter who has had a good run and will never be the "best" anywhere unless he can make 130 or something.

Cotto and Williams are the only guys who have shots at beating Floyd.

They were the right scores. Hatton landed the clinch and thats it. After that what else is happening.

Floyd landed all the hard punches.

Hey, punchstat numbers support that. Last I checked, you don't get points for clinching and pushing your opponent back.

Hatton landed very few clean shots. He was completely out of his league.

I agree. It's almost as if, when it was inside/clinch/along the ropes, then Hatton was AUTOMATICALLY winning.

    No such thing.

On the other hand Floyd is not winning rounds for Ricky not landing either.

    No such thing.

Not being a fan of either guy, I could watch the fight without bias and it clearly seemed to me that it was actually Floyd doing the better body work inside. And just like against De La Hoya, Floyd proved that he is tough as hell to hit while in-fighting.

Name me one round where Hatton CLEARLY outlanded Mayweather.

I gave Hatton rounds, but the ones he won were very close.

    Defense does get points.

And Mayweather's shots were almost always cleaner.

I was rooting for a Hatton win...but it is what it is.

    Peace.

I´m too tired after live betting eight straight fights for eight hours to discuss this scoring criteria, but ring generalship is the most flawed concept. Who lands more wins the rounds, end of discussion.

25 of 100 beats 10 of 15, if the quality is similar.

..and you hate Ricky ever since he beat Tszyu. :tease: :tease:

Right. And also who does more damage. Anything else - ring generalship, defense, etc. - just sets up or avoids punches landing or damage, which should be the only two criteria.

When you start adding ring generalship and effective aggressiveness to the criteria it gets to be more of a beauty pageant/dog show...

    Well...

Firstly , Joe Cortez was a disgrace tonight. What was he playing at? I was very confused from the second round on with that dude.

Secondly, Kaur was 100% correct, in that PBF used his elbows, forearms and twisted his back like a cunt to avoid being hit...

Thirdly, the scorecards were an outrage. What the fuck fight were those people watching?

    BUT

    Floyd was better. No question.

Hatton couldn't hit him. At all. First round he clipped PBF and made him shudder, and so PBF shut down his defenses, picking Hatton off at will as he came in. I actually thought he was gonna win earlier as the fight got on.

Basically, my worst nightmare came to pass. Hatton @ 140 is unbeatable at the mo in IMO. Hatton @ 147, however, is only just borderline world class. The Collazo performance held true. PBF was stronger in the clinch and too quick out. Not a good place to be. At all. He hit Ricky almost at will and the shots which ended the fight... :eeeek:

Too quick, too strong, too good.

Look at Billy Graham after the fight. He knew it from minute one...

LOK, RoyJones etc- PM me your sigs please. Congrats to you all

    MTF:doh:

mayweather uses elbows, yet hatton charges in hugs as soon as he hits or get hits.

hatton should've picked greco roman wrestling as his profession. that mauling and hitting shit is not easy on the eyes
