before making my prediction for floydd v hatton i would like to ask the following questions. whos quicker, hatton or odh? who hits harder, hatton or odh? who's technically better, hatton or odh? who has the size and reach advantage, hatton or odh? If hatton fought the oscar that floyd fought who would be most likely to win the fight?
Just to add to the mix... If Hatton wins, how little will these comparisons matter? How did Hatton fare against a former 135 champion? How many people felt that DLH got shafted against Mayweather? NOTE: I'm just messing around, but I'm sure most are aware that these comparisons are not that accurate in boxing...
dsimon writes: They are legitimate questions. I would say that they are very different animals..... De la Hoya and Hatton. You can't compare them in most categories but: Hatton is probably as fast as De La Hoya. Hatton is smaller. But Hatton is stonger physically. Oscar was never really a strong physical fighter. Both guys are probably comprbly accurate. De La Hoya is a better puncher. Though the caveat being that Hatton hits to the body better. Hatton is unorthodox and is deceptive in his strategy while De La Hoya is orthodox, pretty much comes foward and beats you as a puncher. When Ricky does not get horny and dry hump he is a better inside guy than Oscar but both guys get tired if things are too physical in that range for a protracted period of time. This is one reason why Hatton can't simply fight Mayweather to the body for 12 rounds nonstop. Finally, Oscar is a better counterpuncher, but neither guy is much in this regard.
odh couldn't miss pbf with his counter jab and he took pbf's jab to the body away with his counter lef hooker-cut. i think odh is uner-rated as a counter puncher. hatton hardly ever counters interestingly.
Only if DLH was half dead at the weight. If Ricky were to face the DLH that used to fight at 147, rest assured he'd have been carried out on a stretcher.
Yep. If Mayweather can hurt Hatton and if Mayweather has such a huge size advantage then DLH has an even bigger size advantage.
What the hell is with this supposed Mayweather size advantage? He & Ricky are the same size. If anything Ricky is a bigger man. Floyd maybe taller, but Ricky is a thicker, heavier boned man than Floyd. PBF beat him cause he's BETTER, not cause he's bigger.
Hey im not the one saying he has the size advantage. Im just saying thats what the Fatton groupies are saying.
The reach advantage was pretty huge. BUT, thats no excuse! Every fighter must fight with SOME type of advantage. However, I am convinced that hatton is definately better suited at 140. He doesn't carry his power well to 147.
Let's say PBF walks around at 150lbs. Hatton walks around at 170lbs. WHo's the bigger man? I'll Holla 5000
