thats according to the daily mirror newspaper over here....

reportedly happening in Vegas in April although i should think that is far from being set in stone

Hopkins, "I'm going to dress like Apollo Creed in the stars and stripes. Even little old ladies with the canes are going to put their teeth back in and support this good old American boy for that fight"

Any report that says Calzaghe is fighting in Vegas is bullshit. That ain't happening.

It's scary in the US.. Ask Ricky.

Best possible matchup in the game right now besides Mayweather-Cotto

    Let's hope it happens! :bears:

madison square garden? :dunno: Hopkins doesn't have a fanbase...Calslappy doesn't have a fanbase in this country...so have it Vegas...and the casinos can give out the tickets to their big gamblers...

    but brits travel.

I have no doubt the mediocre fanbase on the east for Hopkins, plus the brits, plus the hype of a massive fight would mean the garden would get sold out.

YES....it will sell out..thanx to Calslappy fan..hopefully they will make the trip..and hopefully they will put aside more than 3-4 thousand tickets...if GBP allows it this fight can be full of REAL fans of the sport and not pack with high rolling gamblers and hollywood assholes...

look at the crowd last night..other than Hatton side..and what seem to be a few Mayweather fans in the first few rolls that crowd was quiet..and seating down..even during the knockdowns...

If I was Calzaghe I'd tell Oscar, Hopkins, Cortez and that whole fucking yank scene to take Las Vegas and shove it up their collective cunts. No European should go next nigh or near Vegas- and Joe is the pfp#1 as far as comp btw Hopkins and Joe goes. Nobody who loses twice to JT is in a position to dictate shit. Drag that two bit likker store hoodlum to Cardiff and McClellan him in front of 40,000 people, then get him air-ambulanced the fuck home.

What is the biggest venue in Vegas? UNLV?

I doubt you're going to get a bunch of people flying over again to watch the fight in a casino closed-circuit venue or pay megabucks to get the short supply tickets.

I agree.. Calzaghe should not come to Vegas. I would use Hatton as an example. If Ricky kept fighting strictly in Manchester, he, like Joe, would still be undefeated.

I'm with you 100%. Tell the those Yanks to shove the Mecca of boxing up their ass.

During their primes...Calzaghe would never cross the pond to have a fight in the states..now that Hopkins is past it a bit...now he gets brave...

Jones,HOpkins,Tarver all were there at some point..but Calzaghe never came to the states.....i guess better late than never....

Perhaps fighters change in their mid-30's.

Hopkins was 36 (a year older than Calzaghe is now) when he fought in the middleweight tournament against Holmes and Trinidad...before that, it's not like he was exactly taking on a who's who of the sport.

Luckily for him Don King and Felix Trinidad made the tournament happen.

Comparatively speaking, Calzaghe's probably accomplished more to this point of his career than Hopkins had at the same age.

After moving down, Hopkins didn't move (back) up in weight until his forties...Calzaghe would have that beat by several years (if he moves up to fight Hopkins).

I just saw the post fight interview from Saturday night. They say they have agreed to a 50-50 split.

I don't think Joe can reject that. :dunno:

Joe is the champ Hopkins got beating twice by what can only be described as a paper champion JT, what a loser.

    :bears:

Cardiff is the better venue and b-hop would piss his panties walking to the ring but that wont happen becuase hopkins will demand a pot of gold from the other end of a rainbow.

So Joe is going to yankland and he's going to beat hopkins up for 12 rounds.

I guess Hatton getting fucked up wasn't enough to humble the Brits.
