I picked Hatton over him, and really thought he had the style to beat him or at least come close. I'm gonna pull a BIT of a Double L and say if it really came to the crunch, ie I had to bet the house on someone, I would have gone for Floyd over Oscar and Hatton. Suffice to say, my hatred of floyd was a major factor in picking against him. But as I mentioned, I really did think Hatton had a realistic chance with his balls out pressure style. What surprised me the most was Floyd beating Hatton at his own game. A little over reliant on the elbow sure, but overall he was impressively unperturbed by Hatton's mauling style. I thought Hatton would wear him down and frustrate him and smother him with it, not give him room to work, but Floyd did brilliantly. It's amazing how much better he is than Roger and Floyd Sr. Not a likeable person, fake as fuck, but he is the deserved P4P #1. A brilliant fighter.
Floyd's overrated. He stinks the sh*t out of Baldomir in the worst ppv fight of the year, scrapes by the skin of his teeth against a shot inactive DLH and beats a little man coming up to 147. Floyd is a great? Last I saw, greats usually fight the best in their divisions. They don't just jump from division to division handpicking big money fights and staying clear of the toughest fighters. That's why in terms of greatness, there will never be mention of Floyd's name during discussions involving greats. Furthermore he actually has the audacity to claim himself being greater than Ali and Sugar Ray Robinson? This stupid motherf*cker should be shot dead IMO, not applauded. He's a f*cking businessman going around handpicking his fights. Go clean out a division motherf*cker before you trash the name of Muhammad Ali. Even that cocksucker Naseem Hamed for a time tried to claim himself as being greater than Ali. What's up with these little men talking so much sh*t? Pussy ass Floyd couldn't last 3 rounds with a young Roy at 160 and he goes out calling Roy a bum beater? Floyd still needs his skull caved in. He's a cancer to the sport, he represents everything which is wrong with boxing. To talk massive sh*t about other great fighters who fought wars in their days while this potshotting, elbowing, back-giving running bitch goes around handpicking his fights and boring the f*ck out of the fans. Please!
I think this board has done masterfully to avoid talking about the role Joe Cortez played last night.
come on Hanzy.....Mayweather is overated by his fans...but his skills/what he do in the ring...is NOT... what happen to.... Cotto will do the job....no worries..unless Mayweather retires...to be a promoter..as if DLH would let him eat..
:: But I think Hatton would kill Floyd if they fought no rules in a graveyard so my picture above is still feasible. Floyd won under boxing rules with a dumb clueless ref.
Gotta give some props though to Roger as a trainer. The man is incredibly underrated and while he's been given incredible talent to work with, his no-frills advice and his own boxing experience help Floyd tremendously. Still think Hatton's a stronger, better in-fighter, Mex? Mayweather bullied him at his own game; wore him down then steamrolled him. Upon second watch this morning, it was pure domination and his best performance since 05.
cortez played a MONUMENTAL role in the fight. I believe with a more capable referee hatton would have stood a great chance at victory. I had him down only 1 round at the time of the stoppage!
Roger is a good trainer but is Floyd Jr. that also makes him look good. Roger couldn't do nothing with that kid Fergusson. I remember Floyd jr. praising Ferguson a while back. this was the first time I saw him and he looked like shit. :eeeek:
:notallthere: what :notallthere: the :notallthere: fuck you mean having him only win 1 round right? :dunno: i agree that Cortez played a great role in making hatton look more competitive than he would have been otherwise
I disagree about Cortez. I think he made it a point to separate the clinches from round 1 He even took a point off Hatton for hitting behind the head. I think Cortez did pretty good job. To expect him to break up the fight even more is to not let them fight. Which would have led a shitty fight.
arggghhh..silence!!!.....mamao! :nono: you just giving Cortez props cause he let Marquez get out of that first round against Pacquiao...:nono:
Actually I haven't been a fan of Cortez' for a while. I know he let Ruiz get away with some clinches before. Which is why I think he did a good job. He starte breaking hatton and Floyd up from the first round. Unless you want the fighters throwing punches from oposite corners he did a good job. ::
Well congrats to Floyd pure class... I thought Ricky had a real chance after the first 3 rounds but obvisiouly the Pretty boy was just feeling him out. I also picked hatton but that was with the heart I was expecting a Floyd UD, but Floyd came out and opened a can of whoooop ass. It was the performance I was looking for from the #1 lbs4lbs fighter. I said it before Ricky just cant cut the mustard at welter he should take Witter out after xmas and then retire after beating that punk from the Bronxs. Also I was never a money mayweather hater you can see in some of his low profile interview he's not really a wanker... as I said before I just wanted him to step up and earn his #1 ranking. But the dela fight left a sour taste.. TKO will be supporting team money mayweather all the way. I hope the pretty boy can unify the division by beating cotto williams and cintron.
What does that tell you about how Floyd Jr turned out? I feel sorry for the guy having such piece-of-shit-Ghetto arseholes like that as a) a Father and b) an Uncle. Fucked-up.
Floyds far from an asshole. He does the asshole routine to sell tickets. He deserves credit for becoming a mainstream star.
No, I think he comes across as such by default not by design. After the fight, he introduced Hatton to each one of his team, which is pretty good, IMO.
:: Joe Cortez or Mickey Vann, the outcome would have been exactly the same. Floyd is simply the superior fighter.
i liked how Cortez said in the dressing room that he's basically warn people for holding but nothing more. In essence he was saying, hold all you want. I'll go ahead and break you. Especially if a punch has just been landed on PBF. ::
