It was funny when he interviewed Floyd and kept pushing for a Cotto fight.

I understand is a fight that would be awesome and the one to make at 147.

But he kept pushing the issue as if Floyd still needed to prove himself and fight Cotto.

Floyd had to answer the question twice.

somehow Merchant had to give him props for a moment for the Ko win over Hatton but kept pushing the issue of fighting Cotto because the great ones would take a challenge like that according to him. :dunno:

HBO need Floyd to keep fighting. Look at all the mainstream attention Floyd is getting right now. Mayweather-Cotto would be a great fight and would easily do 1,000,000 buys.

Well it's a fight people want to see....:dunno: Merchant usually push everybody to say who they will fight next...

I wanna see the fight too.

But it was almost disrespectfully to damn near skip the prais on his win that night and just push the issue on Cotto.

I really think it was more to do with Merchant putting him on the spot than Merchant doing it to benefit HBO.

I was almost expecting another episode like what happened after the Baldomir/Floyd fight when they got into an argument. :nono:

when a guy wins you give him his props and let him take his time. Floyd is at a point where he is not as hungry to talk about his next fight.

that's not the point. Floyd talked about taking a break or maybe retirement.

Merchant pushed the issue that he needed to prove himself by fighting Cotto.

I also want to see that fight. but Then Merchant started talking about how the all time greats prove themselves. Basically saying Floyd's win that night meant shit.

Clearly the guy was not gonna talk about any upcoming fight. Merchant just came off with a bad vibe as usual IMO

Well, Mayweather's now pulled this retirement card like three consecutive fights.

Maybe Merchant didn't think much about this fight against Hatton..even before the fight started he was already down on Hatton.....

Mayweather not talk about upcoming fights?..He usually did talk alot of shit about other opponents...bring 'em on...i take 'em all on...but the last few fight he has gone the Ms. drama route by saying he is retiring....

"I have enough money..i most be doing this boxing thing, cause i LOVE it"

    a few weeks/days later..
    "I dont love boxing...."

I'm sure if Floyd beats Cotto, Merchant would tell Floyd he has to beat another welter to prove himself like the all time greats.

My point is that Merchant still doesn't like him and even a KO win over Hatton was dimissed quickly to push the issue on a Cotto fight.

yeah but every body has given floyd props because most understood what Hatton brought the fight. And he did bring enough pressure to make it a good fight and make Floyd work.

to dimiss that and just push the issue on a future fight when you know Floyd has been talking retirement is silly.

If Floyd was to beat cotto, Merchant would probably bring up Margarito as a guy he needs to prove himself like Ali.

agREED. The viewers don't get anything from interviews where the interviewer merely praises the fighter. The most important thing is to ask the interesting questions whether they are difficult or easy. Good for Floyd that this time he reacted like an adult

I think Ray retired six times. Seven if you count that he announced after the Camacho fight that he'd retire, then announced he would continue and retired again before getting another fight

No kidding. With the mainstream news worthy wins over De La Hoya and Hatton, Floyd has put himself on a level with guys like Leonard, Ali and Tyson in terms of people looking forward to his fights.

It's only naturally, with that type of status, for people to ask the standard "Who's next?" question.

Floyd would be best off continuing fighting. There's no life for him outside of boxing. He has no future in promoting or rapping or acting. No fighter ever amounted to sh*t in any other avenue after retiring. Boxing is what he does, it's what he's best at.
If the dude wanted partnership with Golden Boy, what exactly would he be doing? Co-promoting a bunch of bum mexicans on crappy Golden Boy cards?
We know nobody is going to be buying Floyd Mayweather cds and albums and he can't act for sh*t and the only reason he's getting offers for a few roles in B movies is because he's hot right now. When it all dies down should he retire, he'll need to rely on his own acting skill and not just his name. His acting skill or lack of will make for a very short future in Hollywood.
He should continue boxing while he still can, while the money is there.

No, just testing your boxing knowledge tap. But you also forgot something else, Tex and Jack were huge white guys playing specific roles, I guess you could say typecast in the big villain type character.
What roles could you see little Pretty Boy playing? A side thug on Boyz N The Hood 2? :dunno: Hollywood will be hard for him if he chooses to go there.

Floyd isn't but he could be I think. He could help 50 cent sell some albums and sh*t, he could appear in some rap videos.

Oh Christ, Merchant didn't tongue kiss Mayweather after the fight so now he was disrespecting him. :dunno:

That was the most cordial I've seen Merchant in a long time. Oh no, Merchant asked Floyd if he was going to fight an actual Welterweight at Welterweight..................the world is crumbling all around Mayweather sycophants as we speak.

I like Mayweather, but his fans are going to turn me off of him with this GOAT crap just like Roy Jones fans did to me years ago.

what the fuck??? since when does one have to become an actor to be considered a success after boxing??? however to your point, floyd may be arrogant and obnoxious but he isn't exactly inarticulate...don't confuse him with zab judah.
