It's all part of HBO's engineering. PBF is "supposed" to be viewed as an unbeatable phenomenea. Not a mere mortal. This can only be substantiated by over-estimating the ease (and understating the diffifulty) with which he's managed to dispatch his opponents. Part of this, of course, is the claim that his opponent(s), "isn't on PBF's level," "never had a chance," "barely won a round," "was completely out-classed," and unfortunately, that he, "is a bum."

I think it's part of what motivated Hatton so much - the chance to show PBF that a "bum" like him could beat him.

What's amazing is that that wasn't the first such left-hook Hatton was hit with under the exact same circumstances (due to a leaping left jab). And my guess is, he felt it, was confident he could deal it, and so made the conscious decision to resume with his reckless leaping left jab. But he was more tired this time. And PBF landed it better. And that was all there was to it.

 

Mayweather gives Hatton far more cedit than Mayweather's fans do.

If Hatton is able to come back from a ko loss as good as he was, then he'll do just fine at the 'elite' level. That was easily one of Floyd's best performances and it wasn't Ricky's best (but it was good).

Hatton has some really decent guys at 140 to fight. And quality at 135 moving up...and Hopkins has proven you can be a great beating smaller fighters.

 

They would have said Hatton beat an unfocused PBF who was too busy dancing with the stars to train properly, that and too many back to back superfights screwed up his motivation.

 

If you look at the list of fighters who fared better against MW, its not hard to say that Hatton was WAYYYYY overrated.
