The times are reporting the same story, with quotes from Shaefer saying that have agreed the 50-50 split......it also mentions April but with New York and Vegas being the possible locations.

    ?????????

Why should he have? Hopefully by now you've had an insight into what it can be like fighting in front of a PASSIONATE and NOISY crowd/ JC has been fortunate enough to fight in front of many thousands of passionate British crowds.

I swear to god, each american fighter and boxing fan should be made to visit at least one big fight in the UK. Then you'd understand it ain't all about the dollars.

i like hopkins and always have, but i honestly dont care for this fight or any future fights he'd be participating in.

i'd rather see calzaghe vs. glen johnson. despite his age, at least johnson comes to fight and is the more exciting fighter than hopkins at this stage.

You wont hear that. Calzaghe's from Wales and has Italian blood.

You have to be PURE English to get that kinda love!

Calz will beat Hopkins at this point.

Had they fought in 02 when Hopkins was still prime, Joe woulda gotten fucked up.

Let's hope for a legacy-killing beatdown then as Calzaghe retires Mr. Deathbed.

All I can say is that I wouldn't bet on this fight ever happening. And if it does, I would never bet against Hopkins after the Tarver fight. You just can't count him out.

This fight is happening. Hopkins taunting the Euros was a statement. That statement was "Holy shit, if this many of these dudes will come for a fight they know they have nary a chance in hell of winning, how many will come and PAY for a fight they think they have a great chance of winning."

Actually, I doubt Hopkins has ever thought or spoken the word nary but you get my drift. :)

Indeed; having been at Cal-Kess, I can attest to the sheer awesome of Cal's fans.

Good points right there. A lot of people forget that about Hopkins.

There's a reason he was the underdog against Tito by the time they actually fought (just like Calzaghe was the underdog by the time he finally fought Lacy).

There is major historical revision going on in this thread- as usual.

Hopkins pulled out of this very same match-up five years ago when he asked for a ridiculous increase in his purse after the match had been all but agreed. :dunno:

Calzaghe will beat Hopkins hollow now, and he would probably have beaten him when Hopkins was at his 'prime' in 2002/3.

I don't know about any of that out of the ring garbage, but at his best, Hopkins beats Calzaghe 99 times out of a 100, IMO...and I'm something of a Calzaghe backer. Different classes of fighter.

Personally, I think the best Calzaghe is a favorite over the best Hopkins, but your odds are ridiculous.

    Disagree entirely Tam

JC has developed a style of boxing which is almost impossible to defeat.

IMO, the ONLY type of fighter who beats JC is a guy who hits as hard as Kessler/Lacy and moves/throws shots as fast as Joe. Otherwise Joe is too fast (ala Lacy), too strong and adaptable (ala Kessler late on) or both.

Hopkins is NOT such a fighter
