I was thinking the same thing....before the Money fight hatton would be in everyones list then he loses to the best fighter on the planet...and hes dropped....mostly by Floyd fans...a little ironic dont you think...
:crafty: Ofcourse he is, hence the 'Arab' entailment, Paulie Malignaggi is full blown Arab,.........with Italians, you've just gotta rank em' on an individual basis.
I would have Hatton at somewhere between 10-15. Its the manner of the loss, its was very one-sided leaving aside the stoppage. In addition, much as I like his persona, his performances aganst Urango and Collazo didn't impress me at all. The Castillo stoppage was a good one, but Castillo-Ngoudjo didn't convince me that Castillo would be effective at 140, I don't expect to see Castillo win any belts north of 135.
I was wondering exactly the same thing and I draw the same conclusion... Anyway 1. Floyd 2= Manny 2= Calzaghe 4. Pavlik 5. JMM 6. Cotto 7. Calderon 8. Vasquez 9. Hatton 10. Haye Honourable mentiones to Vlad, Hopkins, Kessler, R Marquez, Williams and Woods MTF
1. Floyd (by some distance) 2. Manny 3. Calzaghe 4. JMM 5. Hopkins (and heading south) 6. Juan Diaz 7. Cotto 8. Pavlik 9. Klitschko 10. Hatton/Vasquez Hatton needs to beat Witter to keep him in the top ten.
Agreed, he tried to beat the BEST of the best and lost no shame. ALSO Ivan Calderon NEEDS to be up their in the top 8, he is 30-0 and has been a 2 time champ since 2002 and is a flawless southpaw. <HR style="COLOR: #d1d1e1" SIZE=1> <!-- / icon and title --><!-- message --> 1. Mayweather 2. Pacquaio 3. Calzaghe 4. Hopkins 5. Calderon 6. Juan Diaz 7. Cotto 8. Pavlik 9. JMM 10 Hatton
Based on how they rank compared to others in their division, my list reads as follows (only real athletes included) 1. Calzaghe - right now has cleaned up his division 2. Pavlik - only semi-credible opponents avalable 3. Klitschko - see above 4. Pacquiao - looks great but has things to prove 5. Mayweather - Many good wins 6. Diaz - stands above the rest 7. Hatton - Starts as a clear favourite against everybody in his division 8. Haye - impressively beat the legitimate champ 9. Cotto - impressive run of victories 10. Kessler - Without one man he would dominate himself
That´s the dumbest way to rank fighters P4P yet. And I was gracious enough to delete your list. :warning:
That is the ONLY way to rank them fair. But sure, if you want to join the mass who rank them based on how flashy they look, how good they would be if they weren't that weak and small, how big money they make or how much they pose for porn magazines, go ahead:tease:
P4P should be based soley on who you actually think is the better fighter...if you take weight out of the equation. I happen to think that obviously Wlad would beat Floyd because he's so much bigger...but if size were out of the equation, Floyd is teh better fighter and the best at the moment. Nothing to do with flash, money or porn :notallthere:
Yeah, but his being the champ is based in large part off of a win two years ago (and deservedly so, I'm not arguing that point)...just that while he is "the champion" it's based more off of one win than a period of dominance. Hatton hadn't beaten many top jr. welterweights before the fight, and hasn't really done it since (Maussa and Urango were champions...but not elite). He's also arguably lost two fights the past two years...and while they were both at 147, he didn't look like a p4p fighter in either, IMO.
Agreed. And it says, the best fighter, not the best boxer. I think Floyd has at least two very credible contenders from fighters that are his size (=weight division) and a couple of more who would give him a very good fight. That is why I can't see him p4p the best fighter. It is kind of silly to compare who would beat whom "if they were the same size". If Wlad gets shrinken down to 5'8'', 147lbs then obviously it would completely change his style, body coordination, technique and everything. Just the same way as 6'6'', 245 lbs Floyd is impossibility. You can't make credible comparsions like that
Why didn't you just be honest & call the thread this? -It's obvious that is the point of this thread.
 If you choose to rank your P4Per's this way, then, for what it's worth, I think your list is top drawer. Honestly And props for being the only other person to include Haye on your list. He went to the champions backyard and KHTFO. Got off the floor to do it too. No-one else seemed to have noticed... :dunno:
think someone else had Haye at 10.....it is a good shout, there weren't many better 'away' performances this year off the top of my head.....mine is something like this 1 Mayweather 2 Pacquaio 3 Calzaghe 4 Hopkins 5 Cotto 6 Vasquez 7 J M Marquez 8 Pavlik 9 Hatton 10 R Marquez
if you are referring to my one.....they both are in it different scenarios though......Hatton is still there because he lost to the #1 anyway.....he shouldn't fall too much for losing to someone who was above him with Marquez....he lost to a guy he beat, and could've beaten again....there is very little between the two of them....whatever happens in their fights, the loser will be below the winner but they won't lose too much ground on the rest
I don't go much for P4P lists, but if I was to rank the 10 best (and who I ould favour the most over their peers) fighters...it'd look something like this: 1. Mayweather 2. Calzaghe 3. Pacquiao 4. Klitschko 5. Diaz 6. Wright 7. Calderon 8. Pavlik 9. Hatton 10. JM Marquez
Exactly- it's not like he lost to some bum at home; he took on the very best and came up short. How does that mean he vanishes? Theoretically, if Manny Pac fought Floyd and got KTFO in the tenth, would he be out of people's P4P lists?
 Its UGTBK...what else would you expecthis is the same dude who came up with the alias RUDOLPH EICHMAN.
