They are back together for the Katsidis fight.
I saw Holyfield working with another trainer last week, a pretty good pad man, and I know his association with Ronnie is now over.
Do you folks think this is a good thing for Diaz?
I thought Juan never looked sharper vs. Julio Diaz, and Derwin Richards trained him for that one.
Katsidis is such a dangerous hitter, I think it is a good thing as Juan is going to have to bring out his jab and movement for this one, at least a portion of the time, IMO.
Shields is a terrific trainer as far as countering and defense goes, and Juan will need those attributes in there with a fighter with the power and strength of the Australian.

i don't think it makes much difference for this fight....i see Diaz as a pretty heavy favourite....Katsidis can easily be hit, and has been hurt before too....Diaz is a class above

Diaz has been progressing magnificently under Shields. This is great news for Juan.

to me Ronnie Shields is kind of overrated. he is not bad but nothing special either.

I guess he and Juan are a good match.:dunno:

I also think Ronnie isn't anything special, but it seems like Juan and him are a good match. Never seen Katsidis before, but Juan should not have any problems with a pressure fighter, since he is one....and an intelligent one.

Diaz will make him quit just like he did his previous two opponents.

    Karl,
    Cite your source...
The pad man is Marcus Johnson's father, James Sr. Tim "Louisville Lip" Knight is also working with Holy. Ronnie, Jay, & Creed are not.
Derwin has been with Juan since before he won the Mexican National amateur title. He was pro alongside Ronnie under Savannah as well. They all have good chemistry and Ronnie's return is a good thing for Team Diaz. Shields' forte is teaching a great jab.
As I've said before, Juan will fight Katsidis like he did Lakva Sim. Jab and outbox him for first few rounds, then pressure and outland him with power punches until he either scores a stoppage (cuts or quits) or cruises to wide decision. This dude has a wild big punch, but he hasnt faced anyone and has only shown himself to be one dimensional. He's not in Juan's class...

Latest update about to break on BScene by mr.pug ... DK has something in works..

This isn't new.. This is the same story about DK having increased options on Juan if he fights under another promoter before March.
GBP is just now realizing it.. (publicly)

This is very fucking aggravating as I typed a fucking lengthy response to this shit and it didn't go through saying it didn't have enough characters??????
I saw Richards twice in person in LA when I was stationed in Vegas and ranked number two in Nevada at middleweight, once against Julian Jackson and the other against a cat that looked like and fought like Hurricane Carter, but wasn't as good as him, but beat Terry Norris.
He caught Richards with a hook and that was it.
Anything else, I don't give a fuck about.
I hope this time this fucking post goes through.
    Karl
