I really hope that Cotto continues to call Mayweather out over the next couple months because then we'll definitely see that fight perhaps by next summer.

I believe Floyd when he says that he's bored. After two huge fights against Oscar and Hatton (as well as Corrales, Gatti, Judah, Castillo over the last few years) it may be difficult to get motivated to train hard anymore.

But if Miguel calls him out....Floyd could be drawn back into the mix! :bears:

Cotto is taking another risk fighting Clottey. If this fight is ever to come off Cotto cant lose 1 fight or its over. Look what happened to Margarito. he will never have his shot now.

Yeah, like Cotto has really tried to make a fight with Mayweather.

"I'll fight whoever they tell me to"- Cotto

    Agreed.

And HBO should step up and really push for the fight.

I have a feeling that De La Hoya and Cotto will fight in May, and Mayweather is looking to fight the winner, since either way it's a huge windfall of money.

So in that case, I really really hope that Cotto beats Oscar.

Its good that Cotto has intimated that he would like to fight Mayweather. I thought Floyd had scared him away by dismantling Hatton with relative ease. This fight could be made if Floyd starts to get bored after his vacation. And while I don't know about Floyd.... If his vacations are anything like mine.... well lets just say I would rather get in the ring with Cotto and stick my liver out than go on most family vacations we go on!

He'll probably get more bored being away from the sport he's been competing in basically his whole life.

We've seen it many times before. Fighter is away from the sport, and misses the attention, sense of purpose, money, etc....and then returns.

The Castillo fights were 5 years ago and the Chico fight was 7 years ago.

cotto can go ahead and have two hard fights he may or may not win against clottey and margarito. I doubt those two fight purses combined would net him half as much money as he'd get against mayweather.

delahoya WILL NOT face cotto. he doesn't want that type of punishment at this point of his career.

Oscar would be very live in a fight with Cotto. Cotto would actually fight Oscar unlike Floyd did which plays right into Oscars hands. He's much bigger and stronger than Cotto and hits as hard or harder than anyone Cotto has faced.

I agree. Cotto would be the favourite...but I'd probably bet on Oscar in that one. If Oscar catches Cotto clean with a left hook..anything can happen.

    I don't see it.

Like I said before...Shane may have beaten Oscar twice (I maintain that Oscar won the rematch), but Oscar is a harder fighter to beat and brings more to the table.

At this stage, Oscar is just as fast as Shane (handspeed), hits harder, has a MUCH better jab, is taller, chin is just as good if not better. Oscar is a far more dangerous fight for Cotto than was Shane....and still Cotto didn't dominate Shane.

So what do you respect more. A fighter who doesn't give a shit who he's matched with as long as he's properly compensated? Or a fighter who cowardly stutters "I'm looking to ma..ma..make smart business decisions" when confronted in public by potential opponents or ponders retirement at the mention of an opponent, who many expect to give him a run for his money? :dunno:

No, I don't. Calling Mayweather "Money" sounds suspect as hell. But maybe it's just me. :tease:

But honestly man, what is it exactly that Mayweather has achieved that is so great that exempts him from any criticism from other fighters and fans? I guess the 5 belts in 5 different weight classes, perhaps? Regardless of 3 of them coming against Arturo "I cut when the wind blows" Gatti, Carlos "I got 9 defeats and 6 draws, but don't call me slow and plodding" Baldomir, or an inactive "Tutu" De La Hoya?

I remember your boy once saying "no one will ever fully understand Floyd Mayweather." I guess that applies to his fans as well.

Nice post, but as sly says, i dont see the relevance. Im not a massive fan of money. Im probably a bigger fan of Cotto. But saying money "cowardly stutters" is rubbish and you know it,

I said that in reference to him being confronted face to face by Margarito a year ago. There's video to support it. He maybe didn't stutter the exact way I worded it, but it's the truth. Far from rubbish, lad.
