Cotto wins Fighter of the Year!
Fight fans for the third straight year voted world welterweight champion Miguel Cotto the 'Fighter of the Year' on Fox Sports Premios. Cotto, who lives and trains in Caguas, Puerto Rico, accepted the award last night in Miami. "This is a great honor and very special to me as it comes from the fans. It shows that hard work will always be rewarded," said Cotto. "We are thrilled, as the fans have spoken," said Bob Arum of Top Rank. In 2007, Cotto defeated Oktay Urkal (TKO 11) in a mandatory defense, Zab Judah (TKO 11) in a riveting battle at Madison Square Garden followed by a win over Sugar Shane Mosley (W 12) at Madison Square Garden.

    :bears: :bears: :bears: Fuck Mayweather!

Cotto beat 2 guys 1 which Mayweather wanted no part of that had a legit chance beating him.

Taking risks and beating the opposition makes you FOTY!

Mosley was the 1 who turned down the Mayweather fight last year, not the other way around. As for Cotto being "fighter of the year" Maybe the Latino fighter of the year that's about it. Floyd will win the real award.

How quickly do people forget!! DLH is a bigger risk than Cotto took! On Friday before the fight, Hatton was better odds for KOing PBF, thank PBF was to KO Hatton!

Delahoya's best days were over at that time. Let's be fucking serious here.:nono: Delahoya's Daddy Shane has much more left than the fading Oscar.

Ridiculous to argue, Cotto is one of the guys deserving for the award and he is as deserving as the other guys. If the award went to Pavlik, Floyd, Calzaghe, it would have been ok as well.

These awards are like beauty pagents. Sure one can say that miss Slovenia is a pig, but when it comes own to miss Brazil versus miss Mexico and they are both fine.... either one could be the winner.

  You mean chased them away ..

I would say with the Zab & Mosely fights , Cotto would have been the one to bring in more casual fans , definetly not Mayweather.
Actually if you want to judge who would bring in the casual fans , Mayweather would probably be very low on the list ..

Dude, it's the other way around....Cotto brings the hardcore and latino fans, floyd brings in the curious/casual fans. Don't tell me that hardcore fans bought all those tickets and ppv in the Hatton fight :notallthere:

It was after the Vargas rematch.

I wonder if Oscar feels a sense of revenge that he gets to be the boss of a couple of guys who beat him in the ring.

The only casual fans Floyd has are the ones that show up at his door with their panties down around their ankles and their dicks in their hands.

Well done Miguel Cotto. He earned it.

I'm a Floyd fan but Sly annoys the hell of me (like the rest of the forum I guess) and makes me almost dislike Floyd.
