..of two and a half rounds! Which is exactly two and a half rounds more than a certain bold, fat, in his mid 40-s poster from this board, who hasn't fought a single round in professional ranks, would last!

Karl Hegman had over 90 amateur bouts. Surely, that counts for more than 23 staright wins by knockout in teh profesional ranks, no?

What does importance have to do with anything?
I clearly described the guy in question:fat, bold, in his mid 40-s, who's never fought a single round in a professional ring.
Does Karl fit any of this info?

I once fought a kid in junior-high and received money for it (by taking away his lunch money). Should I consider myself to be a professional fighter?

Did Valero have the correct balance when he knocked the guy out? Where was his defense then?

There is much more to this sport than winning. I have posed next to semi-famous boxer once, I think I could take Valero.

On the undercard, Jorge Linares knocked out Gamaliel Diaz.

    Fightnews:

In his first title defense, highly regarded WBC featherweight champion Jorge "El Niño de Oro" Linares (25-0, 16 KOs) scored a spectacular eighth round knockout of mandatory challenger Gamaliel "El Platano" Diaz (22-7-2, 9 KOs). Linares absorbed a big right hand from the aggressive Diaz in round one, but began to show his class as the fight unfolded. A crushing Linares right uppercut floored Diaz in round four. The game Diaz continued to swarm, but Linares knocked Diaz out cold with a huge right hand in round eight. Time was 2:02.

Valero is a wild, wide swinging joke. He has zero balance and defense. He is as technically flawed as possible. Even his power is hyperbolized.

Edwin Valero is the most inept world title claimant I have seen in 31 years since a jr. middleweight named Elisha Obed was a jr. middleweight title claimant as I have went into detail about this particular subject several times here already.
Valero has no balance, no defense, and has never been taught the fundamentals of boxing, because he evidently has never had anyone that knows them to teach them to him, is what my guess would be.
When he gets knocked out, he is getting knocked out hard and long, mark my words.
Nothing against him, I am sure he is a nice enough kid and loves boxing it seems, but he just can't fight.

Karl is dead on. And Valero makes Santana and Mayorga look as technically proficient as Mike McCallum.

For historical purposes now, the WBA 130 pound belt is meaningless.

You just took a short vacation.

Stop flaming and trolling if you don't want another. Opening up a thread meant specifically to insult and offend a poster is a waste of space.

Thankfully, the thread has evolved into a technical discussion. As long as it remains as such, I'll let it go.

    Peace.

The problem with Valero is he has regressed....I've watched footage of him in the gym and he has looked extremely technically proficient. He knows footwork, knows defense and counterpunching, and actually looks quick and light on his feet.

I have yet to figure out if his "regression" IN the ring has to do with him training himself overseas...

Or if it's deliberate and inentional as he says. His stated POV is that he is looking for the KO every time, and in exciting, wild fashion...because that's what the public wants and that's what HE wants. If he can't get it, he'll settle in.

Plus, the quality of the guys he's been fighting hasn't been elite - so he is perfectly willing to go balls-to-the-wall and chin-check guys for the first 2-3 rounds.

Given the skills I've seen in the gym and in his first fights (before he had to go overseas) - I know he KNOWS the theory and how to apply it. So I can believe to an extent that it's deliberate.

But then again....some of it just looks like pure regression from not training well - and even against Mosquera who he went 10 rounds with, he never really got around to focused, technical boxing.

So I think it's a combination of both things.

There are some things he does, though, that aren't pure wild brawling.

But yeah...it's hard to take him seriously watching him at times. Then again - power, stamina, relentlessness and sheer willpower count for much.

    Peace.

If Zavaleta had to take him serious, i've no problem doing the same. That dude looked discouraged shaking his head by round 2 because of the lethal punching power.

Valero does what fans want and he was pretty impressive to me yesterday.

    Is this a joke?

Someone who has never fought pro in theirlife, insinuates that they could beat a world champion, and instead of banning him for life for being a total dipshit, you are on here defending what he has to say and warning/banning people who rightfully give him shit for that terrible call.

Seriously what is wrong with people who denegrate pros and protect the obvious inferiority complexed having tools like Slystaff and StingerKarl. Are you people this fucked up?

seriously, I've been down this road with people who diss Valero before.

Sure you're entitled to your opinion, but how dare those in charge here favor such a ridiculous take with their powers.

Dymipepel is a career flamer and troller. I personally couldn't give 2 shits about Valero, but this isn't about Valero. Its about Dymipepel starting fights in GD.
