I would have helped merge these threads...but fuck it! Everyone likes to complain when mods do their job (all these complaints about me recently)...so everyone is invited now to make a 100 duplicate threads and other such infractions (stupid Lacy vs a homeless person) and I'll just sit back and watch!

850K in the states are good numbers...i bet that was a bit more than HBO expected(deep down in their hearts)...Mayweather and team might be a bit dissapointed though cause they think they are sooo great.......

    Ricky Hatton 900K in UK...

how much did the ppv cost in the uk?

so basically you are telling me that the entire country stayed up all night to watch their favorite son get knocked senseless...

then you should resign from your mod position. We can't have a mod that doesen't do his job. :nono:

well in that case the us ppv buys generated more money since it cost 55 dollars here.

Anybody know how much money did HBO put into the cost/advertising for the 24/7 series?

Advertising has to be near zero real cost to them.

Cost to make has to be less than 1/2 the cost of an episode of their more popular series. All they are doing is making a documentary. Hell, the biggest expense might be paying that guy with the famous documentary voice.

according to these financial know it alls here on this message board the 24-7 series costs a ton. some here alleged they pumped 20 million+ into the advertising (namely 24-7) for mayweather vs delahoya.

personally I agreee with you, it shouldn't be that expensive.

looks like we have a mathematics genius here. by the way UK didn't show 24/7 and Hatton STILL got 900k tuning in...

  15. who?

    who? Undisputed Champion

    the uk DID show 24/7.

  16. Haymaker

Haymaker WBC Silver Diamond Emeritus Champ

the 24/7 didn't cost them more than any reality show, and they aired it through their network alone, so it's basically zero cost, not different than a channel promoting their own programming, etc. That's why they will stick to 24/7, iit helps sales, and it's cheap.

well now you're telling tales. it would be naive to believe hatton was solely responsible for those uk ppv buys. if that was the case why didn't his bouts with collazo, urango and castillo do those numbers?

hatton has never had a us ppv prior to facing mayweather that did 6 figures worth of homes, let alone being victorious in the biggest financial success in boxing history. winning matters.

of course... we might agree on the benefit both from each other big time.

By the way, 24/7 was showed in the UK and in the days leading up to the fight it seemed to be re-broadcast at different times all day, the promotional push through the cable network was unprecedented
