thx for validating my point...

no shit Sherlock?? Now that really blows my argument out of the window...

No one outside of the US knows Floyd and if Boxing isn't that big of a deal in the States than how can u be the bigger star world wide? Floyd is a non factor in world wide recognition. he even has the bigger market and can't draw more than Hatton in his little ass home-town. The fact that the US has other sports of course decreases Floyds chances of becoming more popular but that has nothing to do with the fact that he IS NOT!

Who cares if he is more popular or not? Hatton could have been the most popular guy on the planet but it still didn't stop him from getting knocked out.:dunno:

    Hatton-Mayweather smashes UK PPV record

While 850,000 fight fans bought the HBO-PPV telecast of Mayweather-Hatton in the United States, indications are the event generated more than a million buys on SKY-PPV. Final numbers aren't in yet, but according to the London Telegraph estimates are as high as 1.2 million. The previous UK record was 760,000 for Lewis-Tyson in 2002.

I don't even think it was on pay-per-view. Calzaghe isn't exactly a huge star.

Correct. It was on a new satellite TV channel called Setanta, who charge 10 pounds sterling per month for subscription (no minimum contract). They reported around half a million buys immediately prior to the Calzaghe- Kessler bout.

Not true at all. There is very little between Calzaghe and Hatton in terms of popularity and recognition in the UK. In fact, in the most prestigious UK sports 'popularity contest' of 2007, Calzaghe beat EVERY BRITISH sports person:

That's a very stupid way to gauge popularity, since people aren't going to vote for a guy who had gotten knocked out a week or two earlier. 30,000 people aren't going to fly to Las Vegas to see Calzaghe unless he's fighting God Himself.

But 50,000 go and watch him fight some Danish guy no-on bar fight fans have even heard of?

Sure- it's very stupid to gauge popularity by considering the results of a NATIONWIDE POPULARITY contest... :dunno:

Hatton is irrelevant here, btw, the gauge is Lewis Hamilton, who was an odds on favourite to win but lost, comprehensively, to a boxer you claimed had no popularity, and fought a month or so before thsi contest (on cable/pay TV).

Calzaghe is HUGE in the UK.

    FACT :blobbox:

Floyd is young, rich and popular, I don't know exactly where I fit in with this celebration, but I sure like talking about it..... maybe if I keep going, a little bit of Floyd will rub off on me.

How can Calzaghe be huge in the UK if know-it-all wannabe Rubio says he isn't?
