This is the question for all boxing historians out there. Was Buster Douglas THE MAN at heavyweight after he beat Tyson?
Only off of that fight, bro. I bet a months pay on Evander when they fought and collected nicely, even though Holyfield was the favorite over Douglas right after the weigh in.
I sense this is going to turn into a Mayweather/Margarito/Baldomir discussion, or somehow relate to Kostya Tszyu.
13 seconds, but he was only responding to the referee. Douglas was clear headed. King tried to rob him afterwards by claiming that he, King, was the "Promoter Of The Whole Fight", in otherwords, he promoted BOTH Tyson and Douglas and therefore had nothing to gain in Tyson being reinstated as the Champ. The question was therefore thrown up, what did he HAVE TO LOSE by leaving Douglas as the Champ. To this, the "Promoter of the Whole Fight" had no answer.
you guys are a bunch of jerks. i would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the stinger on his shrewd boxing intuition that allowed him to win tens, if not hundreds of dollars on the holyfield-douglas bout.
An interesting side note about that particular fight: In those pre PPV days, the fight was sold out in Vegas where I was living at the time, and I had to drive an hour and a half to Laughlin, Nevada to see it in a tent in the parking lot of the Golden Nugget Casino there.
