They are/were both very special fighters. Roy was more talented, but Floyd is more skilled. I liked Roy more, and at the moment the two have comparable resumes, if Floyd beats Cotto though I'd probably place him above Roy in terns of greatness.

This is just another dumbass thread by Hex in attempt to shit on Floyd.

right now Id have to rank jones win over toney as more impressive than any win mayweather has had to date. dominant wins over unbeaten corrales, hatton and cotto would certainly rank ahead of Jones dominating toney and to a lesser degree hopkins.

NOW.....Jones is beter period take him @ 175 and then he move to the 200 weight div, now imagine Floyd right now going from 147 to the 172 more or less which is the 25 pounds that Jones moved up and fought a second tier champ in Ruiz..??

    Woods
    Johnson
    or even
    Miranda -contender....

HE WOULD GET OWNED PERIOD........JONES DID IT AND DOMINATED!

Sad he is a .0000000010% of what he used to be,

Mayweather has a better resume and is more skilled as a boxer. Once Jones' reflex left him, he was getting KOed. HE never had boxing to rely on like Ali did. Mayweather will have that boxing to rely on when he gets older. Mayweather also has fought the better competition.

:notallthere: not quite the same thing, teenybopper boy

Jones starts at 160, and fights as high as 4 divisions higher with Ruiz ( )
Mayweather at 130, and fights as high as 4 divisions higher with DLH

    DLH > Ruiz

Jones began his career at 154 and has moved up to heavyweight(and still outweighed by 30 lbs).

Mayweather began his career at 130 and has moved up to junior middle.

Jones jump is much greater than Floyd's.

    ....

Anything over 154 is Middleweight. Jones started as a Middleweight and never got close to sniffing a title out at 154 because he obviously couldn't make the weight enough. Floyd fought at 130 for a considerable amount of time and won a title there. Saying Jones started at 154 is pretty much incorrect.

If you've ever met Roy in person, you'll agree that him fighting all the way up to heavyweight was remarkable.

  25. Joe King

Seriously. He's even small for light heavyweight.

The "ease" at which he did it was remarkable.

The above assertion of Roy seems to be popular since '04 however let's keep some perspective:

Roy fell off at age 35, which equated to 15 years yrs of top flight performance. The statement of "once his reflexes went" has an undertone that Roy's reign was short lived or flimsy. Floyd's game will also naturally suffer once his considerable speed & reflexes go....how much? NO ONE can say until we actually see him fight till the age of 35. Look at the many so-called fundamentally sound greats who slipped much sooner in their careers than Roy, so let's stop this speculative nonsense. Roy had a ridiculously LONG REIGN AT THE TOP, which means that his skills did indeed stand the test of time....Floyd still has a few more years before we can even compare to Roy, much less claim that his skills are destined for greater longevity.

not really. Ruiz is garbage. Ruiz couldnt catch him all night. that is why he fought Ruiz. Cause it was easy.

Roy isnt a boxer. He is an athelete. Once he started getting old, he couldnt actually box anymore. Thats why he got beat.
