Who is the most amazing boxer in history?

Who is it? Is it Roy Jones? Ali? Sugar Ray Robinson? Cinderella man? Someone else?

 

Joe Louis.

 

Ali was far greater than the China Brown Bomber.

Louis would have made ground meat of Ali.

 

I have to only qualify guys that I've seen during my lifetime because it's difficult to realy gauge how amazing Louis, Robinson, Armstrong, etc were..

For me, it's Ali.. Unouched combination of speed, stamina, chin, footwork, balance and technique that I've seen. He was just amazing to watch.

As far as overall talent and skill....hard to choose between Robinson, Ali and Roy Jones.

As far as overall everything, with accomplishment being a big factor...probably Roberto Duran.

Great call on Duran. So many just remember his fights at WW and above. His domination at LW was unbelievable.

I am basing it on my educated opinions is my response to your question.
Seeing as Joe has been dead over 25 years and Ali is in very bad shape as we correspond, I guess we will never fully know, shall we?

I don't know who I would pick for the absolute best because a guy like Ali, for example, or Roy Jones are guys that could do things in a ring that nobody else could do. It wouldn't matter what era these guys fought in because they were so naturally talented they could do things the way the wanted to do them. And rarely you had guys like SRR who had all the gifts... the natural ability of a Roy Jones or Ali and the technical ability of a guy like Louis. But alas SRR had one fault... he really did not like to fight (by his own admission).

To me the guy that would have to win it is a guy who dealt with the most adversity. In that respect I would say Ali. Ali was one of the greats but he had a way of being larger than life, mythological. He inspired people to love and to hate. So for me Ali is the one.

 

I don't have a problem with your Ali analysis, bro: But 40 years ago when Joe was employed by ABC as an analyst, Ali NEVER said he was "The Greatest" in Louis' presence.

I am a huge fan of Roy's as well.
He was the most gifted athlete as a boxer ever, but not the most gifted or amazing boxer ever, no way.

 

Fine with me. Not that I mind your analysis. It's just a lot of fluff with no real detail so can't really take it seriously.:dunno:
