The Tarver fights and the Glen Johnson fight..So do you feel Roy was past his best and that's why he lost? Or do you think Tarver had his number and kicked his ass, as simple as that? (Don't tell me Roid was old because Tarver was older!)
the jump back down from heavy was really what fucked him up, it had absolutely nothing to do with age.
But Roid weighed in at 193lbs for the Ruiz fight (fully clothed and all if i remember correctly) so he only had to lose what 18 pounds to get back to 175? He lost 18 pounds in 8 months for the Tarver fight and that's what fucked him up?? I'm sure he walks around on daily basis around 190...so you're sticking to the roid had to lose 18 pounds in 8 months and that's why he lost bullshit?
Ring age often has little to do with actual age. Fernando Vargas and Riddick Bowe were old when they were still in their 20s, while Bernard Hopkins was positively spry when he was in his late 30s. Fighters who rely so heavily on their natural-born skills will slip sooner and often more dramatically than fighters who rely on their hearts and minds. Mike Tyson lost to Lennox Lewis because he was old. Can you ignore that simply because Lewis was older? :dunno:
so you're not giving Tarver credit for simply being better than Roid? You're just saying Roid was past it? Even though he just won the heavyweight championship couple months prior? If Ruiz knocked him out would you have said Roid was past it then too?
No. I actually watched his career objectively. Jones had been slipping for years, while Tarver was fighting at his best. Put Jay Nady in any relatively even John Ruiz fight, and John Ruiz loses. Jones looked like shit in the first Tarver fight, and he still clearly won. If you think that Tarver'd beat a prime Jones, you are simply retarded.
Roy weighed 199 on fight day. Roy was also keeping his heavyweight frame until September when he decided to drop to light heavy because none of his heavyweight fights went through. I was in RJJ's suite after the first Tarver fight and he was throwing up and looked terrible. You guys have no idea how sickly he was that night and it definitely wasn't from Tarver. At the weigh in the day before, he could barely stand and was sitting down. Tarver caught Roy cleanly in the 2nd fight. He won that one. I think Roy came back way too quickly in the Johnson fight. You could tell from the beginning of the fight that something was majorly wrong.
No he didnt' . I had Tarver winning, a lot of people did so how can you say he clearly won? Wow this quickly you're resorting to insults? Shows you got nothing left.. And Yes Tarver beats a prime jones as a matter of fact he already did it..
Roid did nothing in that fight he landed a couple shots here and there mostly to the body while Tarver pounded him on the ropes on several occasions
Tarver was headhunting all night there was no body attack. If there was any, it was Roy doing it. Tarver did his shoeshine flurries while Roy was against the ropes. You are just blind hating.
Roy had the winky wright defense going that night. No one complains when Winky uses it and wins, but as soon as Roy does it, he loses "because he wasn't doing anything". I thought Roy won 9 out of 12 rounds and I thought the judges would have it 8-4 which one did and the other one had my same score.
you had roy winning 9 to 3 in the first Tarver fight. WOW you're a big time groupie !! I'm sure even fuckingi reed had it closer than that
Judges scored it for Roy simply cuz Roy was the much bigger name in that fight...and if only stupidass Tarver knew that Roy has absolutely no chin he'd have knocked him out in the first fight
all the Roy haters and the people who had Tarver winning fight one are the exact same people - so i don't blame them not being able to score fights they are emotionally involved in. 9:3 is too clear, though imo. But Roy won 7 rounds of that fight no doubt and a lot of people get all jiggy with that uneffective shit Tarver did to Roy on the ropes where he landed like 2 out of 30 shots.
I see the decline in the "quality" of your arguments with each post.:: Judges have been waiting years to score rounds against Roy and they had their chance that night, hence the 114-114 draw.
Wow 6-1 ! I just remembered this is the same site that had a seperate section for Roid called planet ROID ::
At his best, he could fight that way for 12 rounds. 12 rounds of that, and Tarver wouldn't win a round, let alone a fight. :nono: :dunno:
If you think that a 35 year old fighter who got KTFO in his last two fights is in his prime, I can't help you.:shit:
Physically he was far from done yet but mentally he had no chance. He was a scared little boy and Tarver was his daddy.
