Many would be inclined to pick Tommy by KO seeing that Taylor came close to doing it in the 2nd round, but I'm inclined to think that Pavlik overcomes any early scares and knocks Hearns the fuck out in about 6 rounds.
Well Hearns is no Jermain Taylor. If Tommy got Pavlik in that same position, I'm inclined to think that he would have finished him off. Whoever lands first here, wins, simple as that. Hearns is quicker and starts faster so I think he stops Pavlik in 4 rounds.
Pavlik upsetting your pick musta really ruined your brain... Tommy is SOOOOOO MUCH more accurate with his right hand than Taylor that it's not even funny calling it in another league would be disrespectful to the hitman - AND has more one punch power. There is no question he catches Pavlik early hurts and finishes him. That's actually the easiest MM to ever come across here besides maybe Tyson-Hatton and stuff like that. Picking Pavlik here just to be cool anti-mainstream is really retarded.
Who would you pick in a Mythical Matchup between Thomas Hearns and Iran Barkley? Keep in mind that Barkely was dropped by a 38 year old Duran and wiped out in one round by Nigel Benn? What would be your opinionon such a "Mythical Matchup"?
Yeah but Hearns' Buster Douglas was Barkley and not Pavlik. And don't bring up Leonard and Hagler now! :nono:
Great, now you've done it. Sly will next be referencing Ali, Norton and Foreman to "prove" his point. :: ...and saying "stylistically" at least once.
I'm not even sure than Pavlik's as good as Iran Barkley. He's only fought one or two good middleweights. Oh, and Barkley beat Duran.
Dude! Hearns wasn't this invincible motherfucker that you guys try to pretend he is and Barkley (among others) proved this. Pavlik IS the naturally bigger man here, has greater toughness and arguably more stamina. Sure Tommy could conceivably knock Pavlik out but don't act like the reverse is unlikely! :nono:
Well, it's apparent that Pavlik has a decent chin. However, I think Hearns had more than decent power. I don't think Pavlik gets blown out but wins when Tommy can't continue after twisting an ankle after getting dropped after leading on the scorecards and dropping Pavlik as well.
Not really. If Taylor'd ever learned how to finish a fight, Pavlik'd just be that white guy who fought for the title.
Really? I actually think his main weakness is his chin- both Taylor and Zuniga dropped him and neither are exactly thunderous hitters.
